Carroll: More committed than ever.Hot on the heels of all the earlier talk about new contracts and the like, Andy Carroll appears to be giving out a lesson in how to scotch press rumours.
It isn’t the first time that Carroll has turned tubthumper for The Toon, and he has intimated several times before that he doesn’t want to leave Newcastle.
The speculation continued though, with moves to Stoke and Birmingham being lined up by the press, aswell as those farcical rumours that Carroll was being eyed by Chelsea as a replacement for Didier Drogba. I mean, he is highly rated, but the reporter who suggested that must have stuck in the office with the superglue on that particular day. (more…)
Carroll and Taylor will be offered new contracts. It looks like Newcastle are beginning to pull themselves together and get the wheels in motion in a bid to secure the services of players who are nearing the end of their contracts, according to various sources.
I wrote an article a few weeks back that suggested Steven Taylor would be offered a new deal at Newcastle, and now it looks like preliminary talks have taken place and the paperwork is being drawn up on a new deal for the defender. The same applies to Tim Krul who is reportedly ready to put pen to paper on a new four year contract with the club, whilst it is understood that Andy Carroll will be offered the chance of tripling his wages to sign a new deal on Tyneside. Xisco - Drinking in the last chance saloon? It looks like our Spanish striker Xisco will be returning to training with Newcastle next week, although for how long he remains on Tyneside is a question that is still in need of answering.
The thought was that the club he had been on loan to last season, Racing Santander, would come calling and look to take him off of our hands permanently.
That doesn’t look like it is going to happen, and having scored only three goals in 23 appearances last season, I can perhaps see why they don’t seem to be interested in the former Spanish Under-21 striker. The fate cards have been dealt though, and Xisco will once again be looking to make an impact at Newcastle, and given the apparent lack of money, could it be worth giving him another shot at SJP? Carroll - The one punch machine gun.Right, now that England malarkey is temporarily out of the way we can get back to domestic matters, particularly our first love of Newcastle United.
The release of the Premier League fixtures on Thursday swifly put paid to any idea that we would be given one of the kinder fixtures to start the campaign with, as Manchester United away was “randomly” generated for the second time in three years to be our opening fixture.
This whole Premier League thingy has become a sticking point with fans though, as questions are now being asked whether or not a team that scored so many goals last season will be able to score enough goals in the top flight to secure survival in the forthcoming season. (more…)
Carroll: Linked with a move away, again.Steven Taylor isn’t the only Newcastle player that appears to be constantly linked with a move away from Newcastle.
Now Andy Carroll looks like he is being placed firmly in that bracket by the press as yet more rumours of a move away from Newcastle surface.
Which is understandable as a player with the potential that Andy Carroll displayed last season will sort of always be in demand. We have heard of links of a move to Blackburn, Bolton, Chelsea and Stoke, all of which have been soundly blown out of the water by the player himself who has come out to the press and admitted previously that he has everything he could dream of whilst playing for his boyhood team, whilst also not forgetting our manger who has said he has no intention of letting Carroll leave.
