Newcastle United vs Olympiacos F.C.
Two evenings, two games, two Newcastle United teams!
Date: Friday, 27th July.
Venue: Estádio Algarve, Faro, Portugal.
Kick off: 8.45pm local and UK time.
UK TV: Live on ESPN UK.

Hello, good evening and welcome to our match banter feature for this evening’s game, which sees the Magpies facing current Greek Superleague champions, Olympiacos, at the Estádio Algarve, Faro, Portugal.

This will be the first game for the Magpies in the pre season “Guadiana Torneo,” with the next, against SC Braga taking place tomorrow. With two games so close together, our Silver Supremo, Alan Pardew, will be fielding two almost entirely different teams for each game, and on this his assistant, John Carver said:

“It’s a little bit different to last week, we’re now three weeks into the pre-season training. Now we go into a competition format and the manager will play two different teams each night.

“Everybody will play some part. Some will get 90 minutes.”

This should include Steven Taylor for one of the games, as he is finally back and ready for action after being out for what seems like an eternity with his Achilles tendon.

For more information in the run up for this I game, I also published a two part guide for Newcastle United’s pre season programme, including these Guadiana Torneo games in part two of the guide. If you do read that, and are wondering where the guide for the upcoming Cardiff game is, that will be coming in a separate guide closer to the time.

Meanwhile in other news, Toon wing wizard, Hatem Ben Arfa, escaped with just a suspended suspension at a French Footballing Federation (FFF) disciplinary meeting earlier today. He received his punishment as part of the European Championships Le Sulk Four alongside fellow French miscreants, Samir Nasri, Yann M’Vila and Jeremy Menez. They all received varying punishments for their roles in the latest feisty French fiasco, which is now becoming something of a tradition at major competitions. However, most of the excitement was seemingly reserved for the car park afterwards, when Benny’s father, Kemal Ben Arfa, reportedly screamed at the player’s agent, Michel Ouazine, “You stole my son, you stole my son! You have robbed me of my son!” with the agent alleging that Kemal also tried to give him a “Benwell kiss”. As to whether Ben Arfa’s mother, Sonia, screamed from the sidelines “Leave it Kemal, he ain’t wurf it, he ain’t wurf it!” is unknown. After enjoying his extended rest for being on International duty and getting the latest le Sulk affair out of the way, Hatem will now be joining the squad for the later friendlies.

Well, that only leaves it for me to say that as usual, I shall be putting up the team sheets for the game once they become available, as well as posting links for the game (ditto), though for those in the UK who have ESPN, both this game and the Braga one tomorrow evening will be shown live on there from the kick off at 8:45pm (British Summer Time and Portugal time are currently the same). I will also be posting match highlights when the game is over, and possibly a link for a video of the whole game in the fullness of time so stay tuned!

Howay the Lads!

  1. Having been dragged, er brought up in Benwell I have seen one or two decent ‘kisses’ – perhaps he deserved it :)

Can’t wait for the season to get going, hoping these two games are quite competitive with decent performances would be good please AP

Well, as John Carver says in my piece above, with two games in two days, it will almost two completely different teams. We’ll certainly see what alot of the younger players are like at least.

“Thanks for the link worky. Worked a treat.”

Nee botha tractortoon. It doesn’t seem to be on today, but if you’re ever checking that site out in for links in the future, the “Bloodzeed” ones on Sopcast are the best. They’re just like watching it on the telly.

  4. Worky, any news on team line up? Be nice to see if there bigirimana will play…
    Thanks :)

  5. Gutted I will miss the game and banter off to a house party :( check in at full time.

“Worky, any news on team line up?”

Aye, I was putting the NUFC team up just as you were writing that. there are no subs named as yet though, and no Olympiacos team sheet either.

    I’ll keep checking

“Has any 1 elses comp been locked while watchin says police have ip and this website illegal”

    That is all bollocks, toonfannnn.

Whatever you do, don’t click on it and don’t follow any of the instructions it gives you. I would recommend that you download the Sopcast player if you don’t have it and watch Sopcast links in future. I’ll put a link for a safe place to download it in a minute.

“That was some good play. We are looking good passing it around too.”

I’ve hardly had a chance to take a good look yet, Phisix!

  13. Cheers worky al try once a restored the twat totally f**ked me lap top was locked to the screen al check here for scores later!ha enjoy

  14. toonfannnn,

If you’re using Windows, in future try pressing “Ctrl” + “Alt” + “Delete” on your keyboard all at the same time. Then bring up the task manager, select the title of the browser window that’s giving you grief from the list, then click on “end task” button at the bottom. You can also get ad blocking applications to help block those dodgy ad which keep appearing over the top of videos. As I wrote above though, I would recommend downloading the Sopcast player from the link above, bookmarking that “wiziwig” page for streams and watching the Sopcast links on that. You won’t get any hassle from those and they’re also better quality too.

  15. Nice 1 worky sopcast spot on , couldnt do cntrl alt delete even after a shut down and no int connected it was comin straight up again and lockin comp had to restore and get mcafee started !hasorted jus as the 2nd half kicked off so cheers again

  16. One man down for them, Cisse’s on for us and they go and score an equaliser.

Aye toonfannn, you shouldn’t get any of that with Sopcast anyway.
