First of all, We would like to wish a very happy Christmas and great new year to all of our readers!

Also. to heep you informed we also have a couple of Christmas announcements to make:

New prediction competition in January

Hugh’s current score prediction competition will conclude at the end of the year, with the last games being played on on Fri 30th and Sat 31st December. After that, there will then be a week or two to prepare for the new one, with yet another chance to win £100 first prize, with second and third prizes of £50 and £25 respectively. Don’t be late!

If you didn’t enter our first one, but you were thinking of entering the second, why not have a go at the last few games of the current competition? There are still two or three rounds of matches left (three if you’re very quick). You certainly won’t win, but it will get you “match fit” for the second one at least!

For more details, check out Hugh’s previous post on it, or even the competition pages themselves. Either Hugh or myself will post one or two more reminders closer to the time.

Changes to the blog

From the holiday period, I will be making some fairly radical changes to the blog. Some of our regular features may go but there may be some new stuff too. I may also be taking some time away from the actual blogging to rework the design a bit, add some new features and work on some maintainence tasks which have been building up for a while. I hope you will bear us during this time, it will all be worth it in the long run!

Finally on this point, due to the horrors of Christmas and a few other things too, there probably won’t be a match preview or any of the other usual match features on this blog over the holiday period.

If you have any ideas for things you would like to see on the blog, or simply have a question, please feel free to leave your suggestions in the comments section or alternatively, send us an e.mail using the contact page.

Prorsum et deorsum!

Aye, I got kind of roped in to setting up some server space, getting a domain name and setting everything up when it started, other people have helped out alot too. Hugh’s much better on the really geeky programming side TBH and I’m more of a designer, though you’d never guess looking at this site ATM! The site is on his server now he’s a big part of the site as well and he’s been around since the very early days. We’re both very busy with other things too so we don;t get as much time as we would like unfortunately.

Don’t be silly glen! My mother wasn’t very good at spelling either, she never got the chance to go to school very much but she wasn’t daft! ;-)

I’ll have a look into the spell checker. I did make the comments system a bit more complex once though and it ended up being a bit of a problem for various reasons but I’ll look at it again.

  6. Happy Christmas, folks!

I’m one of those sad olds who wish things on the internet wouldn’t change so much…I like the blog the way it is but I’m sure you’ll find ways to improve it.

Thanks tunyc. Writing personally, I want this ‘blog to do things which other blogs don’t do. After all, there’s more point to that than doing things which lots of other blogs do.
