NUFC Blog on metro.co.ukThis is just a quick note to let all you regular readers know that I will be blogging for Metro.co.uk on a more regular basis from now on.
They made me an offer a while ago to increase the quantity of my writing on there and I decided to take them up on it.
As well as that, I will also be working on some things around the back of this blog for a while too, along with other stuff before next season starts. This means that I will be blogging less than usual over the next few weeks, but there should be a new, improved blog ready for the coming season.
NUFC Blog on Metro.co.uk - Don't miss all the fun!In the latest development in NUFC Blog’s inexorable rise to world domination, we are now the official NUFC bloggers for Metro.co.uk, the free newspaper much read by tube and train travellers down in that London.
I will posting stories on there which will not available on here so keep checking it out and don’t forget to leave a comment and say hello! The first one is about Newcastle United’s January transfer window, and in it I look at a few players I have been observing who the Magpies should be pursuing, but who have been missed in by usual Toon gossip and speculation mongers. Other stories will be updated around once a week hopefully.
You can find the main page by following the link below, so don’t forget to save it in your favourites. I will also be putting a link to it in the sidebar of this site too.
New stuff on the way!Dear readers, just thought I’d take some time to let you all know, especially you regular readers out there, what’s happening with the site.
As you may have realised, there have been less blogs than usual over the last few months, and no prediction competition for the first half of this season too. My colleague, Hugh, was in charge of the prediction competition and has been busy working hard for the last few months. Because the prediction competition we run on this site is quite time consuming to set up and run, I’ve been busy too, and there have also been alot of other things besides just writing the blogs which need catching up on, I decided to leave it this time. However, I havent discounted the possibilty of running a second competition later in the season IF enough people are interested. Sorry about that! (more…)
Santa: Why does he always dress like a Mackem?First of all, We would like to wish a very happy Christmas and great new year to all of our readers!
Also. to heep you informed we also have a couple of Christmas announcements to make:
New prediction competition in January
Hugh’s current score prediction competition will conclude at the end of the year, with the last games being played on on Fri 30th and Sat 31st December. After that, there will then be a week or two to prepare for the new one, with yet another chance to win £100 first prize, with second and third prizes of £50 and £25 respectively. Don’t be late!
If you didn’t enter our first one, but you were thinking of entering the second, why not have a go at the last few games of the current competition? There are still two or three rounds of matches left (three if you’re very quick). You certainly won’t win, but it will get you “match fit” for the second one at least!
For more details, check out Hugh’s previous post on it, or even the competition pages themselves. Either Hugh or myself will post one or two more reminders closer to the time.
Sticky Toffee time?Following on from last week’s facts on Blackpool I have decided to take a slightly different approach to this week’s preview of the trip to Goodison Park.
I am now going to try to incorporate more facts relating to this history between the two clubs as well as facts which relate to the big game along with the trivial facts of The Toffee’s to cast your eyes over. I hope you enjoy!
1. The record between the two clubs over the years is incredibly close. Out of 158 games, United have won 62 and Everton have won.. 62, with the the clubs drawing 34 times. The two clubs are even neck and neck for goals scored with United just edging it with 239 compared to 238 for The Toffees.
2. The bad news for United fans travelling down to Goodison Park however is that United have managed just five wins from the last 16 league visits to Merseyside in the Premier League, failing to win in the last 7 trips. United’s last win came in the 2001/02 season with messers Bellamy, Solano and Acuna netting the goals in a 3-1 win. Take some comfort from the fact United battled to a 2-2 in their last visit to Goodison Park in Joe Kinnears first game in the Newcastle hot seat. (more…)
