QPR’s Hall Fitz nicely for cover at the Toon!

Another masked crusader?
There was an official announcement today that Newcastle United have signed Queens Park Rangers defender Fitz Hall on loan until the end of the season. Having been courted by a handful of clubs, he’s decided to join the promotion race and will help plug the gaps left by our defenders who have started to fall like flies to various injuries.

Creatively nicknamed “One Size”, Hall nearly didn’t make the grade after being told he wasn’t good enough by West Ham. Having been given a chance at Barnet and then moving to Chesham, a ‘Dowie connection’ meant that Bob of Barnet allowed Hall to go to Oldham to join brother Iain. He impressed enough there, so that when Dowie took over at Crystal Palace, the former Toon assistant forked out £1.5m for him after Hall had failed to break into the Saints team following a move to Southampton.

A further move to Wigan Athletic saw him back in the Premiership but he was soon on the move again to QPR, where he has stayed since. Hall can play at full back and centre half and will provide Championship experience that may prove vital with current absences.

There’s an interesting link with Iain Dowie there as well, considering the former clubs of both men. Though I suppose that could be a good or bad thing, depending on what you think of Dowie. Considering the current flurry of transfer activity, it’s unsettling to thing there may be some sort of cohesive plan in place. Who’d a thunk it?

  1. Some really smart moves by the Toon hierarchy, carried out with S.A.S style stealth…. wonder if the Toon Ultra’s will be needing some new Mike Ashley tunes soon…

  2. Reckon we will get Taylor from Birmingham as well on loan-proper grafter and gives it his all for the cause,my best mate is a blues season ticket holder and said he would be a good loan signing.

  3. The board have done well-I think they realised that the team was struggle to get promoted with the current injuries etc
A striker would be a nice addition.

  4. Did I read somewhere that this guy doesnt even get his game for QPR. Happy enough with the quality of the other signings but this one seems a bit of a poor one

  5. buddy – He’ll just be cover mate. Coming to Newcastle, even on loan as cover, will still benefit players as our facilities at the training ground are top notch. It makes it easier for players to stay in shape, although judging by our previous record with injuries I’m not sure of that theory :)

  6. no neither am i….shockin record with injuries! seems a very strange one still…..why would qpr bother loaning him out? just hope he doesnt hinder kadar
