Report of consortium’s bid to buy Newcastle United with Shearer as manager – but it IS the Daily Mail ;-)
The Daily Mail’s Colin Young is today reporting that a consortium of local businessmen, backed by wealthy Middle Eastern investors are involved in a £90 miliion pound bid for Newcastle United. It goes on to say that the group have already spoken to Alan Shearer, and are “prepared to meet his £3 milllion a year wage demands”.
Shearer, who is currently taking a short holiday in Portugal is reported to be still interested in the job. However, it should be noted that this story IS in the Daily Mail, and this Geordie businessmen / wealthy Middle Eastern backers thing sounds like a load of old piffle, so it should probably be taken with a large pinch of salt at this stage. If any more substantial news comes to light, we shall of course keep you all posted.
Literally, too good to be true. In The Daily Mail you say? Can I have some chips and vinegar with that bag of salt please.
What would the majority of those thick Geordies want to hear? Well they’d want one of their own as manager, lots of local people involved at board level and money from wherever really but let’s keep it topical and real, maybe the Middle East then? OK, that’ll work, let’s write it up….
ooooooaaaahhhh alan gowling
