Newcastle v Blackburn – Match banter!

I dare say that the same warm welcome won’t be extended to Blackburn’s current boss, Sam Allardyce, who returns to his former employers for the first time since Mike Ashley gave him the boot.
Newcastle are in a fine run of form at the moment and will be looking to build on three consecutive wins by grabbing all the points tonight as they set about ensuring that the club remains safe and benefits from another season of Premier League football next year. In contrast, Blackburn have been in poor form having not won a game in the month of October, but they managed to stop the rot last weekend when they beat Wigan in a 2-1 victory at Ewood Park.
Big Sam has been strring the pot somewhat as he prepares to play the role of party pooper this evening, and he seems keen to put a bit of pressure on Chris Hughton by pointing out his record whilst he was managing on Tyneside. Allardyce said;
“I got 17 points from my first 11 when I was there. Then it slipped away slightly and the decision was made.”
Now let me clear this up whilst I’m on my soapbox. Allardyce’s points haul didn’t just ‘slip away’. He may have got seventeen points from eleven games, but then he went on to back that up with just nine points from his next twelve matches, playing a brand of football that went nowhere near masking the results. His win ratio, including cup games, was 33% during his time with us.
In contract, Chris Hughton has worked wonders since he was appointed as manager, and his winning ratio currently stands at roughly 60%. I think that about sums Allardyce up for me!
Anyway, if you want to read a bit more in depth news regarding injuries for both sides, possible team selection, form and stats then please feel free to have a ponder over my match preview.
The game is scheduled for overseas broadcasting, so if you’re aware of any good streams and would like to share them with your fellow Newcastle United fans then please feel free to leave a link in the ‘comments’ section.
Hopefully Newcastle can continue playing well and extend their winning run, and getting one over on Sam Allardyce would be a nice little bonus aswell!
