Town full of old boys for Newcastle vs Huddersfield friendly

The Huddersfield manager made great progress after taking over in November last year, winning 8 out of 9 games but a dip in form resulted in a mid-table finish. Having cut his teeth as assistant to Glen Roeder at Norwich City, Clark will be looking to realise the potential that people see in him to make a thoroughly decent manager.
Clarkie has some other familiar faces in his management team. Namely Terry Mac, buffer supreme to King Kev, tremendous former player, adopted Geordie and all-round decent bloke. Derek Fazackerley, who was assistant manager and coach under Keegan in the ’90s revival is acting in a similar role at The Galpharm. Paul Stephenson, who played for us in the ’80s is also part of the coaching set-up.
Having cut loose a fair proportion of the previous squad, Clarkie has made some modest signings and will be looking to gel his new-look side in time for the coming season. We haven’t been afforded the opportunity for such comings and goings due to the sale impasse. We can only hope that the current squad can pick up where they left off and step up a gear. Whatever the future holds and wherever their careers may end up this season, the players can only get on with the job in hand and prepare as best they can.
They can start by putting a shift in tonight and rewarding what’s expected to be another reasonably healthy turn-out in the away section.
The squad is unlikely to change from Saturday other than the inclusion of Harper as Martins and Bassong are not thought to be in line for any involvement.
Like a trip down memory lane with all those ‘old boys.’
Seriously good luck to Lee Clark earning his trade the right way and surrounding himself with some good people who he can no doubt rely on. So if we get ‘new boy wet behind the ears first job in management’ Shearer we also get Dowie hmmm.
