Not on the radar anymore?Newcastle United allegedly end all interest in Teteh Bangura while Alan Pardew is keen to get a decision from Mevlüt Erdinç by the end of today.
You have been spared my rambling nonsense for a few days due to the village I live in once again having had its telephone exchange stolen. To be more precise, it’s the copper wire that links the exchange to the houses in the village that was stolen. It’s really getting tiresome. I’m now on first name terms with some of BT’s customer service staff who are, I must say, polite, courteous and completely useless.
But I’ll spare you a rant about that and move on to Newcastle instead.
News hot off the (Daily Mail’s) press is that we’ve ended our pursuit of AIK striker Teteh Bangura after work permits delayed talks. The Mail has suggested that Manchester United are now interested in the player and that scout Martin Ferguson is off to watch Teteh play this weekend. (more…)
Teteh and MohamedNewcastle United allegedly have much interest in Teteh and Mohamed Bangura who currently play for Sweden’s AIK.
You’ve probably seen various reports linking Newcastle to the Banguras from Sierra Leone who, incidentally, are not brothers. Both players are currently at Allmänna Idrottsklubben (AIK) in Sweden.
Let’s take Teteh Bangura first. The 6ft tall 21 year-old midfield/striker has a prolific scoring record with 58 goals in 67 games. Most of those goals have been scored in various lower leagues although he still managed a creditable 7 goals in 9 games for Sweden’s top division AIK.
Speaking in the Swedish press (which for some reason sounds like a torture device to me – don’t ask me why) yesterday, Teteh said:
“I like the Italian league.
“It’s good that clubs after me. It is the dream of every player to play in a better league. But right now I’m happy and pleased to be here.” (more…)
Mehdi Abeid - done deal?Newcastle United look at two youngsters to strengthen their forward/midfield areas.
Rumour has it that Alan Pardew is interested in a couple of young lads at the moment. One that is said to be a ‘done deal’ – but is not yet confirmed on the official site – is Mehdi Abeid.
Abeid is 18, is a French Algerian (or possibly a Algerian Frenchman), used to play for Lens and can take on either a midfield or forward role as far as I can establish. He scored 3 goals in 11 games for Lens B last season and is now said to be available on a free transfer. Apparently he has already completed a trial at Newcastle and rumours indicate that he all but has his black and white slippered feet under the Toon breakfasting table.
Information on the young lad is hard to come by it seems this is ‘one for the future’ and Graham Carr and Co have obviously been digging deep to identify talented youth. Well, we hope he’s talented anyway – I can’t imagine they’d bother scouting someone with two left feet and the footballing skills of a house brick. (more…)
