Highlights of today’s Newcastle United pre season friendly against Turkish Super Liga runners up, Fenerbahçe, at the Sonnenseestadion in Ritzing, Austria.
It was Newcastle United who opened the scoring, with youngster, Mehdi Abeid, cracking one off in the 76th minute. However Fenerbahçe drew level with an strike from Cristian just before the final whistle.
Koura: A bonny lad who certainly knows where the goal is!In the last game for Newcastle United’s Reserves clash against a Hamilton Academical 11, it was a young French trialist (named only as “Trialist” on the team sheet) who undoubtedly stole the show.
He scored two goals, narrowly missing out on a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory for the second string Mags.
Newcastle United’s club reporter, Dan King, wrote of the mystery Frenchman:
“Two well-taken goals from a French trialist helped Newcastle Reserves start their pre-season campaign with a win against an experienced Hamilton outfit at the Magpies’ Benton training ground.
“The teenage winger, who has played for his country at youth level, scored twice in the first-half and Marcus Maddison added a third from the penalty spot before Alister Crawford netted a late consolation for the Scottish First Division side, who beat Sunderland’s second-string 3-1 earlier this week and included a host of senior players. Highlights of today’s 1-0 victory for Newcastle United in their pre season friendly against Claudio Ranieri’s A.S. Monaco, which was decided by a solitary Demba Ba goal.

Who are the winners?Well, it time to give the answers for our latest competiton and announce the winners. Before I do, please accept my apologies for the slight delay in posting this.
The biggest hurdle for most who entered the competition, so much so that I began to doubt my self and all the statistical data I used (including the Premiership’s “OPTA” stats and several others) was the question about Papiss Cisse’s “minutes per goal scored” ratio. Lots of you got all the other answers correct but this seemed to be the real stumbling block.
