Captain Colo: Emotional letter to San Lorenzo. Dear Reader, below is my own personal translation of the letter Fabricio Coloccini allegedly sent to his old Argentinian club San Lorenzo, who have of course been trying to exploit Coloccini’s personal problems to their own ends over the last few weeks.
There is another English translation floating around on the Interweb, however they can be somewhat misleading sometimes so I thought I would check for myself and do my own translation of el Capitano’s original Spanish missive just to be sure.
So, here’s what I came up with, but please bear in mind that my Spanish has become rather rusty in recent years!
Simpson: Alot on his mind at the moment.Whilst we don’t usually get involved with tabloid WAG tittle tattle here on NUFC Blog, an interesting tit-bit has come to my attention in the ongoing tabloid drama between Danny Simpson, his old flame Stephanie, and his new flame, that Tulisa woman from that awful “N-Dubz”, and also that awful “X-Factor” thing.
According to the Stun, Stephanie (25) spoke on the Toon right back’s reaction when he found out the she was pregnant with the couple’s second child, sobbing:
“I found out I was pregnant a fortnight ago and he wasn’t very happy.”
Then, in news which may be of more interest to Newcastle United fans, she continued, claiming that the frisky full back said:
“I haven’t got a club — they’re not renewing my contract in May — how are we going to afford another baby?”
Nolan: Still Chicken dancing on a regular basis.Of course, Newcastle United’s game against West Ham on Sunday will see the return to St James’ Park of two ex Magpies, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll, and also an ex manager, Sam Allardyce.
In this piece I intend to concentrate on one of those, Kevin Nolan, who has received much undeserved flak from the less “gifted” sections of Newcastle United’s fanbase since his departure. Though Carroll has almost certainly received even more, that is undoubtedly a whole story on it’s own and as a Newcastle United blogger, I am still suffering from Carroll fatigue, and possibly you are too?
Getting back to Nolan though, below is one example of the kind of thing I’m writing about from so called “fans”. It is from the commments section below a story on the midfielder in local rag, the Chronic.
“Yes kevin Nolan, one word springs to mind that actually rhyms with “Fishbowl” when talking about the south….”**ithole” Thank you for your service, but sorry, you wouldn’t get into this squad ahead of Ben Arfa or Cabaye, get your head out of the smogg air son, big clubs have demanding, passionate fans, that’s why so many can’t handle the pressure up here and depart for debt laden clubs willing to overpay on salaries, smaller crowds, less expectation, and poorer playing standards installed by useless fat Sam!”(more…)
Eight more years for the three wise monkeys. If you have been reading Newcastle United stories in the media recently, you will probably have noticed the announcement that Mike Ashley has decided to give Alan Pardew and his backroom staff, John Carver, Steve Stone and Andy Woodman eight year contracts.
There has a recent precedent of course, with chief scout Graham Carr having already been given an eight year contract back in June. Both Derek Llambias and his Public Relations assistants in the the local (Trinity Mirror Group) media such as Lee Ryder and Mark Douglas have been getting excited to the point of tumescence about this latest round of contract extensions, with Douglas even having the impertinence to tell we fans, his readers, how we must think and behave from now on. He suggested that like all fans (and unlike Ashley and Llambias), we are simply primitive, bed sheet wielding “knee jerk” creatures of impulse, but that we must now bow down in obeisance to Ashley’s longterm plan and restrain ourselves from any form of criticism should the club have a bad run of results. DON'T PANIC! DON'T PANIC!Speaking in a pre match press conference for this evening’s Europa League game against Maritimo in Funchal, Alan Pardew has revealed his displeasure at the recent words of Demba Ba’s spokesman, Alex Gontran, also revealing that there is STILL a release clause in the player’s contract.
Telling the media of a recent conversation with Ba about his spokesman’s comments, with Ba himself also revealing that “lately I am not so happy with some things going on.” at the club in his Everton post match interview, Pardew commented:
“I have spoken to Demba [about his agent] and told him I was disappointed with some of the comments around him. Sometimes it’s out of his control and out of my control. We know each other well enough. I just think people were saying things they shouldn’t say, really.”
Pardew then reiterated however that despite all the current fuss and bother, they still have a good working relationship, saying: (more…)
