Danny Simpson – She said he said “They’re not renewing my contract”

Danny Simpson.
Simpson: Alot on his mind at the moment.
Whilst we don’t usually get involved with tabloid WAG tittle tattle here on NUFC Blog, an interesting tit-bit has come to my attention in the ongoing tabloid drama between Danny Simpson, his old flame Stephanie, and his new flame, that Tulisa woman from that awful “N-Dubz”, and also that awful “X-Factor” thing.

According to the Stun, Stephanie (25) spoke on the Toon right back’s reaction when he found out the she was pregnant with the couple’s second child, sobbing:

“I found out I was pregnant a fortnight ago and he wasn’t very happy.”

Then, in news which may be of more interest to Newcastle United fans, she continued, claiming that the frisky full back said:

“I haven’t got a club — they’re not renewing my contract in May — how are we going to afford another baby?”

Then adding:

“But he’s on about £20,000 a week and comes out with around £10,000 after tax. He’s just really bad with money.”

Now as to the veracity of any of the claims made above I do not know, but it will probably pique the curiosity of other clubs, and I just thought I would throw it out there anyway!

  1. I just don’t get this Danny Simpson thing. Even if greedy Ashley paid him what he is worth in a new contract, it would still be cheaper than signing a new player who was as good as him. If it was someone good who’s on a free, they’d still want lots of money and so would their agent probably. It doesn’t make any sense

  2. nevermind danny not signing a new contract, the first thing he needs to sort, out is tulisa’s technique.
has anyone seen the video of her performance of a certain act?
pardon the pun, but her technique is all to cock, and needs some serious attention.

“pardon the pun, but her technique is all to cock, and needs some serious attention.”

I will look into the matter urgently Trojan, purely in the interests of research for NUFC Blog.

“I just don’t get this Danny Simpson thing.”

No I don’t get it either Tony. It’s well known that Ashley and Llambias know less than nothing about football, so perhaps that’s why they undervalue him so much?

  4. Is Danny going for ALL the footballer fashion clichés in that picture?

    Backwards baseball cap
    Hoodie
    Diamond earring
    Mobile phone to ear
    Headphones

All he needs is a video game controller in his other hand.

“All he needs is a video game controller in his other hand.”

And some trollop from the X-Factor on his arm.

  6. Hes not good enough for a new contract. His positioning is awful, he can’t pass to another black and white strip, hes poor in the air and the only thing in his favour is his pace. We might as well have usain bolt playing fullback!

  7. Some fans really do come out with some bull sometimes

He’s been an excellent consistent player for us for 3 years now and I’m sure that if Ashley is stupid enough to let him go another good Premiership side will make him a much better offer

  8. Yeah or right he’s a great player. That’s why fergie let him go, that’s why pardew doesn’t want him, that’s why every attack against the toon comes down the right wing and that’s why there’s a queue of premier league teams waiting to snap him up!

“Yeah or right he’s a great player. That’s why fergie let him go,”

Does that make Berbatov a bad player then hardiechar? or Diego Forlan and a host of others? I also seem to recall that Peter Beardsley was also a Manchester United reject who didn’t even make it as far as Danny Simpson. Did that make him a bad player too?

“that’s why pardew doesn’t want him”

Aye, I suppose that’s why he picks him for almost every game, because he’s shite and he doesn’t want him.

“that’s why every attack against the toon comes down the right wing and that’s why there’s a queue of premier league teams waiting to snap him up!”

That’s an absurd exagerration and how do you know there isn’t any interest in him from other clubs?

  10. ps I’ve just looked it up, and of the attacks that come down the flanks it’s around 60/40 which is hardly “every attack,” and most of our own attacks go down the right hand side too, with Benny being a key factor as much as Simpson.

While Benny is our main engine when it comes to attacking from the flank, it also means we can be more open to exploitation on that side defensively too. Hence a good full back such as Simpson is essential to cover for our rampaging right winger.

  11. if toon want to improve they need better quality than Simpson to strengthen. If pardew was that impressed with him why has he been chasing debuchy so publicly for the last twelve months. Wheres the cheq book to sign him up long term then? The feeling with Simpson is obviously mutual coz he wont sign contract offered to him last year so get rid. Let simpson make his living at the right level I hear Barnsley need a full back.
Fergie got it wrong with Beardsley but there’s not many who he let’s go who prove him wrong.

“Fergie got it wrong with Beardsley”

Fergie wasn’t the Manchester United manager when Beardsley was released from the club hardiechar.

  13. “agreeing to disagree” is just another way of saying “I can’t, or won’t, support my point”.

  14. I don’t need to support my point anymore GS. Time will prove I am right. Unless of course Chelsea come in and buy Simpson and he goes on to win numerous trophies…or man city perhaps….madrid , Milan….

  15. I just thought of something – if Pardew put his f@cking notebook away he might be a better manager. Over-analysing anything tends to lead to bad decisions.

  16. And who managed to find Danny Simpson’s girlfriend at the most vulnerable time in her life when she had an 18 month old, was pregnant and had been dumped for a celebrity? And told by good old Danny that it wasn’t a good time for HIM, for HER to get pregnant.

The journalist sounds like a bit of a c@nt but Danny also sounds like a bit of a c@nt.

FFS he is leaving because he is not accepting a pay raise and thinks he is worth more. He probably is, but to use that as an excuse to his daughter’s mother marks him as a c@nt in my book.

GS, Both of ’em have been putting it about to anyone who’ll listen anywhere. They’re like two trollops having a bitch fight in a pub car park, and both of ’em have about as much class as a Mackem with chlamydia. Best off keeping it to the football side of things ;-)

  18. You’re the one that put this up (with a minor disclaimer). I didn’t do any more research on the subject because I don’t think I want to know the full story :)

“You’re the one that put this up (with a minor disclaimer).”

Yes, with an emphasis on the football side and as you write, a disclaimer.

  20. danny simpson is nowhere near as bad, as some folk are making him out to be.
he’s always been a reliable consistant performer for me, who doesn’t make that many mistakes.
granted he doesn’t offer a lot, in an attacking sense, and i think ther’s other players in the squad, who deserve more stick, than danny does.

lets be honest, it just shows how p*** ant we have become, under the tacky stewardship, of ashley and co.
danny simpson is never going to set the world alight, he’s just a good honest pro.
the problem is, at a club this size, it shouldn’t be a big deal.

fair enough the halls, shepherds were a bunch of bloody vampires, but this would have been sorted out, months ago.
if he didn’t want sign a contract, then he would leave, and we’d get someone else in.
it’s that easy really, but we are constantly told by all unsundry, how well this club is being run.
this isn’t the first or the last time, there is going to be trouble over contracts, because the gruesome twosome are involved.
when these situations are becoming more of a big deal, than they should be, it is another indictment against the grifters and conmen, who are running newcastle utd football club.
the whole thing has become in their southern terms, “two bob”.
lets face it they are a couple of two bob w***ers!

“granted he doesn’t offer a lot, in an attacking sense,”

    Quiz question Trojan:

Which Toon defender has provided the most assists this season?

  22. Woah guys!
Getting a bit judgemental here innit !
How many of you have even seen the guy up close, never mind know anything about his personal life?
You read reports which are of course sensationalised,
picturing Simpson as the bad guy, then lay into him, without having a clue as to the reality of the situation.
    And you call him dumb?

  23. While we are on the subject of Simpson.
Who appears to be the whippng boy of a few on here.
If you know anything about football, you should give him the credit for being a good steady RB.
No he’s not as spectacular as some (Santon, constantly on the attack) (Tiote banging people)
Sure that gets the fans attention, but has it’s down side, yellow cards and openings at the back.
Simson on the other hand, plays a more subtle style, channeling attacker where the dont want to go, never leaving his feet (no crowd cheering sliding tackles)
his positional play, especially when partnering Williamson, has to be perfect.
And yes he actually does get forward and contrary to those who claim he cant cross the ball, perhaps you should check his sats.
Would we rather have Debuchy ?
Most including some who have seldom if ever seen him play , no doubt would say sure!
So we lose a good solid RB because in Ashleys judgement he’s not worth what his agent is asking.
And in turn spend around eight million euros and no doubt more than Simpson is asking for in wages on Debuchy.
Whats wrong with those numbers ?

“No he’s not as spectacular as some (Santon, constantly on the attack)”

He’s actually more on the attack than some people think Chuck. It can be proved that he spends alot of his time way up the pitch just like Santon, and has been our leading provider of assists from the defence with some good crosses. Santon hasn’t provided any yet.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/gamecast?id=345742&cc=5739

Go and look at the average positions for the Newcastle players in the “live” tab and you will see that Simpson pushes forward just as much as Santon. Go and have a look at the ones for the other games too.

  25. i stand corrected worky, i just him as good honest pro, who goes about his job quietly.
what i meant was, he’s not like enrique or santon, in respect to marauding runs, that catch the eye.

  26. For those of you convinced we “need to improve” on Danny Simpson: give me a short list of PL-starter quality RBs available for 20K/week…I won’t even mention that they’d have to be on a free too…

Prediction: Santon won’t provide any assists from the left side. He has no left foot and is not looking to cross when cuts into the middle.

tunyc, you may as well just bang your head against the wall repeatedly. They’re like the Indian call centre operators for my Virgin Broadband. When they don’t understand what you’re saying, they just go back to reading through the list they have in front of them whether it’s relevant or not. Alas, it’s the same with the Simpson haters, they just go back to the list they’ve learned by rote from fellow idiots:

    Will never be Premiership standard,
    Lousy positioning,
If he’s so good then why did Fergie sell him?
    Backs off too much,
Doesn’t get forward enough blah blah…

Most of them can hardly even write their own names with a crayon.

  28. Wow !
Yih Knaa summit, yer like a bunch of sheep, one minute condeming and slagging the guy, then when a pro Simpson piece appears, you totally reverse course.
If you dont like the guy, then say so, but give a legitimate reason, the way he wears his fkugin hat means shit and everyone wears hooded sweat shirts, these days.

  29. Chuck @37: talking about Simpson’s fashion was a joke, a change of subject from the doom and gloom of this seasons performances. I wouldn’t expect you to understand because if you are not moaning you are not happy.

I really do think you add something and make valid points sometimes, but I despair of your general attitude.
