Referee: Phil Dowd
Hello, good evening and welcome to NUFC Blog’s regular “match banter” feature, which this time sees Newcastle United facing West London club, Queen’s Park Rangers over at their place.
Of course, much of the pre-match gossip has centred around this being a reunion with old friend, Joey Barton, who was ejected from the club after creating something of a storm of his tweets on a certain microblogging site. Personally though, I think that it has been done to death now and I won’t dwell on it here. Suffice to say, we all know what he is capable of and he will be a big threat, along with others in a club which has been investing under it’s new owner, Tony Fernandes.
However, if you would like some more in depth reading in the run up to the game, please check out my esteemed colleague, Jimbob’s match preview if you haven’t already.
As usual, I shall endeavour to put up the teamsheets when they become available, and if you have any good links to the match, please feel free to post them!
Howay the Lads!
Teamsheets
QPR: Patrick Kenny (G), Luke Young, Anton Ferdinand, Daniel Gabbidon, Armand Traore, Joey Barton, Shaun Terry, Alejandro Faurlin, Shaun Wright Phillips, Jay Bothroyd, Adel Taarabt.
Subs: Akos Buuzsaky, DJ Campbell, Jason Puncheon, Fitz Hall, Matthew Connolly, Tommy Smith, Brian Murphy.
Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul (G), Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (C), Ryan Taylor, Gabriel Obertan, Yohan Cabaye, Cheik Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez, Leon Best, Shola Ameobi.
Subs: Rob Elliot, Davide Santon, Danny Guthrie, Sylvain Marveaux, Sammy Ameobi, Peter Lovenkrands, Demba Ba.
Don’t know why, but I’m concerned we could get turned over tonight. Tarabat is due a good game, Barton adds steel and SWP running at “backing away” Danny Simmo are the main points.
Howay these are the games we need to at least nick a point from to finish mid tableish
