Danny Guthrie – “We have a point to prove”.

We're back, better, and with a point to prove!
We're back, better, and with a point to prove!
Danny Guthrie appeared in defiant mood whilst talking to the press today, insisting that Newcastle United will be going back into the big time with a point to prove after last seasons disappointing relegation.

Guthrie has been improving steadily this season and that has become more evident since he moved into his favoured central midfield position. At only 22 years old, a season in the Championship could be just what the doctor ordered in an effort to improve his all round game. The Shrewsbury born midfielder has had to deal with competition for places from more senior players such as Kevin Nolan and Alan Smith but has sparkled at times when given the nod to play, creating 11 goals and scoring 4 for himself in his 33 league appearances this term.

Despite featuring regularly this term, Guthrie admits that whilst this season has been enjoyable the team are in no rush to experience the punishing schedule again anytime soon. For the players to avoid that they will need to pull together next season just as they have this term and yet again go about their business whilst trying to prove doubters wrong.

“We’re coming back up with a point to prove,” Guthrie said. “We know how difficult it will be next season, but that’s the sort of thing we want to do again.”

“You want to prove people wrong, and prove you’re playing in the league you deserve to be in, next season will be exciting for all of us.”

So the mood that has been coming out of the camp from several players over the past few weeks has been pretty much the same, that the players are ready for the fight for Premier League survival. However, I’ve been thinking about why I would like to prove a point in the Premier League, or more specifically against whom I would like to prove a point against. Some of them may not happen or may not be realistic but are still things I would like to see us stick two fingers up at, so here goes.

Damien Duff – The Irishman needs to learn to shut his trap! After declaring himself loyal to the Toon, he has taken every opportunity to talk of his relief at leaving Tyneside and never showed anywhere near the form for us that he did at Blackburn, Chelsea and now at Fulham.

Habib Beye – The two games I am looking for are the Villa matches home and away. I will be looking at going to both so I can wave at him as he sits on the bench, if he even makes it on there.

Villa fans – There are more of them now they have filled the empty seats at Villa Park, seats that had seen 10 years of continuous daylight before Martin O’Neill. Their antics at the final game of last season riled me and the banners they brought out were uncalled for. I never realised we were so important to them.

Anything Hull City – Like a spot on your backside that wont go away, Hull City should they survive will be another target. My hatred of them has been calmed by the departure of Phil Brown although they still make the list.

And finally,

Michael Owen – I don’t really have any problem with him as such. He scored a goal every other game when fit and it wasn’t his fault he was on whacking great wages, Shepherd sanctioned them with sponsorship money! I just expected more form a captain in our hour of need, not just on the pitch but off it aswell.

See, so me and Danny both have our points to prove!

  1. We also have a point to prove on Saturday, Ian Holloway has been bragging in the press how Blackpool turned us over and he would love to do the double over us, well i would love to see him put firmly in his place the little gobshite.

  2. Bit harsh on Hull – What did they do to offend you?

    Be better than us?

As for Owen he was just injury prone – Lets not forget that Ashley did offer him a contract worth £90k a week basic with add ons…

As for the rest, spot on!

  3. Villa fans eh ??? they were a set of f8cking pricks last season at Villa Park ! I agree , why are we so important to them ? I hope Martin O’Neil leaves in the summer and they end up getting relegated next season ! Set of Brummy c8nts !

  4. Stu – Mainly it was Phil Brown and not Hull. Their fans are arseholes which resulted in a bit of scuffle as I managed to find the one Hull fan I have ever seen in my town on the final day of last season.

    He didn’t last long ;)

  5. “Habib Beye – The two games I am looking for are the Villa matches home and away. I will be looking at going to both so I can wave at him as he sits on the bench, if he even makes it on there”

That is harsh. He is a player coming to the end of his career. Of course he is going to want a move in order to play longer at top level.

  6. Spyro – Dont care about him to be honest. Nice to see he is getting his top flight games ;)

  7. toonsy 7 spot on m8 they can all break a leg for me including given the paddy b@stard

  8. Beye and Duff were an absolute disgrace!

Both said they wanted to stay and then as some as they got chance they bailed out.

Duff especially, he hardly ever played but still picked up his £60k per week.

Although I don’t blame Given – He seen the iceberg and he had given us 10 good years with nowt to show for it (Pardon the pun).

  9. Well…as I don’t live in England I can’t relate to the Villa fans mention (though this post has me a bit riled against them now). My #1 is Michael Owen. To me he epitomizes the very worst characteristics of some modern football players (doing very little to earn his money, too many injuries, glory hunter, no loyalty to club or supporters). The image of the captain of a just relegated team fleeing in a helicopter turns revolts me. He is the poster boy for Duff, Beye, Zog, Bassong, etc. Sure it was Sheppard’s fault for bringing him in and paying him huge wages, but surely a little toughness and loyalty isn’t too much to ask for in return.

  10. Toonsy – can you imagine if we were playing Man U or Liverpool at St James’ the day they got relegated (Please god) I’m sure we’d make the most of it.

It was borderline but we did just about deserve to be relegated, so we haven’t got anyone to blame but ourselves (meaning the club).

Might be more productive to save your energy and focus for cheering on wor lads next season – god knows they’ll need it!! :)

  11. ps; just realised I mention god twice then. Don’t worry I’m not a bible basher or owt.

  12. TC – Of course I will cheer on the team all the way. This is just me wanting to settle some scores from last season :)

  13. Does nobody find it funny that those who decided to stay are those that would NEVER have got a move on their current wages? This is no coincidence. If Villa came in for Smith, he would gone. If Everton came in for Nolan, he would have gone. Let’s not delude ourselves here, I think the only players who stayed purely out of choice are Jonas and Enrique

  14. dragonera- point taken, but I believe Smith and Nolan would have stayed regardless- they seem to have some pride about them. Plus Steven Tayor pubclicly shot down any interest in moving when the vultures were circling.

  15. Bout time you guys grew up,just because a player leaves,it does`nt make him a bad person, it`s just the nature of the game.
As for Duff, as I recall he was one of the few productive players on the side, Beye was allways professional and if the price were right i`d have him back to- morrow.
So enough of the childish statements about ex players, it`s a short career , they are trying to maximise their incomes and face it who would`nt have wanted out of the club with the poisoned atmosphere of post relegation second tier football.
It`s about money not loyalty to clubs, get used to it.

  16. Duff was asked to be more of a provider with NUFC, and even played LB for much of last year. A good player, but unecessary for winning the championship. I’m glad he has played this well for Fullham, they may have the quality to send Martins home today.

  17. Michael Owen. To me he epitomizes the very worst characteristics of some modern football players (doing very little to earn his money, too many injuries, glory hunter, no loyalty to club or supporters).

He is the only player MDS that i know of who peaked at 18

In saying that if he scored the goal that kept us up i would prob think differently :)

  18. Chuck- I am well aware that today it is about money and not loyaly- but that doesn’t mean I have to like it and it doesn’t mean I can’t have massive respect for players who do it the other way.

Anyway, thanks for stating the obvious.

  19. Bringing Beye back will simply destroy team morale. He wanted out when the going got tough and he deserves whatever he position he is in now.

The main difference between this season and last season’s team is Team Morale and we will be depending on this to pull us through especially if we have limited transfer funds, which is looking very likely.

  20. I really like Guthrie and think he could rise to the challenge nicely next year. Not sure about who to stick fingers up at althoughbeating Villa would be wonderful.

Thrashing Scumberland is still top of the list.

  21. I have written in the past many times regarding the Beyes, Owens,Duffs, etc etc who relegated Newcastle last year. I was proved right as we are playing better football with young and hungry for trophy players and not with pensioners and missionaries.
Regarding Aston Villa fans well I will tell you their problem… they are just jealous from us because we are a bigger team and have a bigger stadium and have more supporters and we are respected by all whereas they… I dont think so…

  22. Team morale is on a completely different level to recent years, clubs with inferior players to us were still doing better than us because of a such high morale throughout their squads, even the likes of Birmingham and Stoke this season are doing well because of it rather than being blessed with excellent individuals and whoever comes in on the playing side has to fit in rather than being troublesome.

  23. whumpie @23.

I like Guthrie as well. Next year will big for him but I keep forgetting he is only 22.

Although everyone wants a class AM, I wouldn’t be disappointed if Guthire and Barton manned that role with young Vuckic getting a run out in cup games.

  24. Sure every ones thrilled with the thought of promotion and the PL.
It`s a moot point and best forgotten, those who left are not about to return, so let it go.
    Which raises other questions.
    Who gets the push ?
    Who comes in?
I see where CH has spoken out concerning money (the one essential part of every argument)
Stating we the fans, should not expect too much in the way of funds to strengthen the side, hmmmm !
Which probably means low expectations regarding new faces, which in turn raises the question, are we preparing for at best a mid league spot and a possible fight to stave off relegation, or can this side with a couple of additions be fairly competitive ?

  25. Just wondering. Will any of you guy not miss the championship and getting used to the team winning, not being thrashed by teams, ect?

    I know I will.

  26. There seems to be a general attitude on this blog that footballing skills are not as important as team morale.
That my friends is pure nonsence.

  27. Yeah Chuck but remember this my friend, football is a TEAM game and great individuals are nothing unless they function as part of it.

  28. Chuck – Aye, because our superior football team last season were exceptional weren’t they?

Yet Brimingham, Stoke, Wolves, Hull all had weaker teams on paper but stayed up?

  29. People have been going on about us signing a class attacking midfielder for years now but our team is not strong enough to carry someone like Modric for example in the centre.

We need to keep the centre of midfield as strong defensively as possible or otherwise we’re going to get raped by half the teams in the Premiership.

If the club has the money available I’d try and sign Muamba from Bolton and throw Smith or Nolan into the deal, play him with Guthrie or Barton that way keeping a solid spine with plenty of cover for the defenders.

Then get a striker that can link up the midfield and attack, whether that’s your typical skilled ‘number 10’ or a Bellamy type player, no ideas who yet.

Those 2 positions as well as right back should be where any available cash gets invested, if we can bring in a few free transfers to fill the squad then even better.

Aye, I posted it in the last ‘blog, and left a comment for her aswell, just in case she reads what we have to say ;)

  31. Worky at 29.

That article is so bad I feel like a fool even commenting on it….

She needs to stay off the blogs if they offend her so much. Maybe she should visit a political blog or better yet, even some on her own paper’s website to see if football blogs are in anyway unique.

And what’s with the Beiruit comment? I could have sworn Israel invaded southern Lebanon last year…

The hypocrisy of that awful hag, Louise Taylor, never fails to astound me.

“Many football hooligans have switched from the grounds to the internet. Anonymous cyber bullies are seeking to trash the reputations of players, managers and others in the sport.”

    Never a truer word said!

Also the reason why the Villa’s of this world didn’t come in for the players is because their not good enough for the PL perhaps?

  35. DJG 31#
Yes it is a team game and a team of skilled players will allways come out on top over a team of less skilled players, regardless of morale.

    Toonsy
IMO the team that was relegated was a thuroughly disspirited team which had undergon a season of discontent and infighting, on it`s umpteenth manager, an owner who did`nt know what he was doing and fans who booed them at times, they just no longer cared and the atmosphere was so poisoned, that most just wanted out.
I have seen most play for other sides this season and they all are doing well.
Hope I havent made your point !

I’m sure he said his part of the deal was to invest £20m per season in the club.

Ah well, it must be my memory playing tricks on me.

What Louise Taylor is really angry about is people taking exception to her own nasty little pieces. She sees it as her god given right as a journalist to insult the fans, the managers, the players and whomever she likes, but she also sees it as impertinent should any of her targets respond in the same manner.

You kind of did make my point but I know what your saying. :)

I agree with what you have put there mate. I think we need to spend on a RB, another wing type playmaker and a ‘second striker’ type player. Albin would be good on a free but will Ashley sanction the wages and agent fees that would be required to get him here?

  40. I hope Louise Taylor is reading this thread.

She is a nasty, jealous, boring piece of turd.

I have never read anything constructive from her and her consistant ramblings make me feel physically sick!

    Miserable, self righteous owd cow!

Oh and you can quote me on that Louise!

  41. Stuart

Personally, i am all for Hughton loading up the tabloids with the, “we are poor” drivvle for the next few months. We all saw the results the last time management at NUFC showed their hand, don’t we? Wenger once described the transfer market as a high risk poker game. I couldn’t agree more. I’m not saying we will come out and spend 25+ million, but i am quietly confident we will spend enough to see us safe next season. I just hope the acquisitions and departures are what’s needed.

No Stu that is your negative mind warping things again. It clearly says Ashley will invest and makes no mention of not putting the £20 million in.

What it does say is that we will invest carefully.

Still, never let that facts get in the way of a moan eh?

  43. I think Louise Taylor has really dropped a bollock on this one. It isn’t just a dig at us, it’s at all fans and by the comments she isn’t flavour of the month with them either.

P45 surely, bringing the Guardian into question like that?

Hope so, there may be a doorway she has to move into that I can piss in!

  44. That’s my interpretation of it – We’ll see.

Also who are you to tell me that my interpretation of something is my negative mind warping things?

Why couldn’t you just say “Well that’s one way of looking at it but I see it like this….”

Cos it wouldn’t be sensible debate then would it?

  45. So Chuck, is it better to have a skilled team with bad morale (Newcastle 2008-09) or a less skilled team with good morale (Stoke, Wigan, Birmingham City, etc. in 2009-10)?

  46. Also, guys please stop falling into The Guardian’s trap. It is well documented that members of the press often filter through online blogs and forums in order to find out what the common consensus is among fans. No doubt she trawls through threads such as this before typing out her provocative articles. She knows she gets to you, and that is the best way to get you reading their paper. It is little wonder The Guardian have began pasting the names of the journalist next to their articles on Newsnow. Don’t read it if you think it will annoy you…Resist, RESIIIIST!!! haha

We are only bettering their bargaining position when it comes to businesses seeking public exposure on their site. Which will subsequently increase Ms Taylor’s chances of a pay rise… :D

  51. toonsy,

Ashley won’t be investing any of his own money next season.

  53. I do toonsy, read the arbortration report re KK.

    Liar!

As for negativity, try looking closer to the club. They have said nothing positive about next season. All they’ve said is we need to be realistic, we won’t be punching our weight in the transfer market until at least the 2nd season ect….

Well we could be in the Championship by then – But don’t worry, we will have made a nice profit!

  59. Fair point toonsy, but one swallow and all that.

Were not talking baby money anymore though. Decent money needs to be spent – Under him we have NEVER done that.

Only club in the history of football to be bought by a billionaire and become instantly poorer!

I know of no other billionaire football club owner that buys a football club and wants it to supply it’s own transfer funds. Weird – Why bother buying the club?

He bought it to enhance his Sports Direct brand across the world imo.

You and I could own NUFC if he’s not prepared to back it financially in the PL for new players.

  60. So toonsy, just because I see a hrd time under Ashley in the future and I air them views I want us to fail?

    Prick!

No and that isn’t debate, I just think it’s ridiculous you can even think that.

  61. But where is this ‘he wont buy players’ coming from? I see no evidence of such a blanket statement.

Bloody hell kiddo – you just can’t help yourself can ya?

So now the team that has bounced back to the Prem better than any other team in its short history are suddenly not good enough because Villa didn’t want to buy them all “probably”??!!

  65. Can you stop being abusive? It gives a bad impression, not just if the blog but of yourself aswell!

Besides, Louise Taylor may be reading.

  66. stu makes valid points but the trouble is that he thinks we’re owned by some arab sheik or russian oligarch – he needs to get a grip and realise we’ve been rubbish since sacking SBR flirting with relegation most seasons and under FFS made a glory signing every year to appease the likes of him.
We’re in a battle with the bottom 9 clubs next season and survival is our main aim if we finish 12 we can count that as fantastic success and then build to finish top 8 season after and top 6 season after that – we’ll never break top four with Ashley in charge but we can become a solid prem club with aspirations of europa cup place in about 3 years
Stu seems to think we were battling for the title every year for the last 40 years and winning uefa, fa, league cup and champions league along the way

nowt a matter with dreaming like but haway man wake up

“theres a good debate on the legends tonight, should the toon have an open top bus parade through the toon if we win the league, what do yous think.”

The other gadgie had one, hitman.

  76. Appatently it’s beneath us to celebrate something that nobody thought we would do ;)

  77. On a lighter note, the kids are winning 1-0 with Phil Airey scoring.

I’ve never read any of Louis Taylors stuff, but I suppose we could take it as a sort of backhanded compliment that she has to come onto the blog to get her stories even if she does stretch the truth a bit.

Icedog you have never struck me as a WUM, keep going mate.

I’m in the rose tinted specs mob who think some cash might be spent this year but as a very long term fan am ready for nowt again.

  78. toonsy thats mint love it,wait a god dam minute i was at last open top job, know ime getting on but sure it didnt look like that!!!

  79. Toonsy love the picture, as a matter of interest Tramcars were still in use when I was a kid. So were trolley buses anyone else remember them.

  80. we have some real good kids at the moment, but when do they get a chance thats my worry, i dont mean airey hes just a bairn

  81. Wouldn’t go that far Big Willy.

Reet, work calls. Off on a jolly to Wakefield, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield.

    Laterz!

  82. Remember the trams to Gosforth, not quite as old as the model shown, drove one as a child while visiting, sitting in the upstairs front seat.
Come to think about it, how difficult was it to drive a tram-car, did one need a drivers license, what did drivers do when confronted with a turn?
As i recall the colors of the corporation run busses was the same as the present away strip (an ugly cream and mustard combination) co-incidence? I think not!

  83. willy remember them well (trolley buses),driver got out with pole to switch over line, would cut down on sh– we have now if still in use now

  84. hitman – I don’t think we should have a parade. The last time we got promoted was different – we’d been down there for a while and almost dropped another div the season b4.

I think this time was (hopefully) a blip, so I think we should mark the ocassion but in a dignified manner.

How they do that I’m not sure, but I just think a parade will open us up to more ridicule. Sky will be there shoving their cameras in front of any gurning mong with a bottle of diamond white asking if we will win the Prem or if we think Special-friggin-K will return for the umpteenth coming.

  85. chuck ones i saw were all yellow, they could bomb along never heard the sods when playing footy lol

    That’s an oxymoron, Toonsy.

  87. Icedog Yeah we were real greens then, nowt new is there.

Also remember when they switched lines used to spark a bit at times if memory serves me right.

Chuck, Funny to think there are a lot of places have modern tram systems, I think we are to quick to ditch things at times.

Thanks icedog, that’s just given me an idea…

  92. That article from Louise Taylor is obscene, and quite ironic at times too. She seems to come across with this “holier than thou, voice of reason” attitude alot, whilst being completly oblivious to the fact that she is spouting as much rubbish as these apparent blog hooligans herself, on just as regular an occasion.

  93. Kids, final score 1-1 although we apparently had a
sh!tload of chances that weren’t taken.

  94. As a matter of curiousity, do her worst articles co-incide with a certain time of the month. Only asking!!

  95. big willy whats your take on wheater m8,i like him played epl went through bad spell but at about 5mill would be good buy,as think colo will go (wages)

  96. Actually the city of Athens, suffering from awfull smog introduced trolley busses in the late eighties.
San Francisco, has a combination of Cable car, trolley busses and a subway in addition to regular motorized busses.
Most continental cities have some form of light rail system`s.
I never understood the termination of the trolley bus , a fast clean air system whos only drawback was it ran on a fixed route.

    “worky ???”

I thought it would to too boring and irrelevant for a football ‘blog icedog, but here goes. Cars are going hybrid and even fully electric in the future and will be even quieter than electric trams. This could be a major safety hazard which may lead to many more bairns, drunkards and stupid people getting run over, unless other safety features, such as motion sensors and automatic braking are utilised to minimise the risk.

As I wrote, very boring and irrelevant for a football blog, but interesting to enquiring minds like my own.

  100. worky wish i hadnt asked now :) walked right into that, joined chucks gang have we lol

  101. As for the open top bus parade – The club have said there won’t be one, simple.

I agree with that stance to be honest – We should just do the job and keep it low key.

Wrongs of last season righted and leave it at that.

  103. Icedog, had a comfort break, actually been watching have I got New For you. Not a fan of Wheater I reckon we have better in Kadar already. And if Taylor stays we wouldn’t need another CB.

  104. Just remembered one of the jokes was down to the Magazine they were highlighting, Pylon Monthly.
There was a picture of an electricity pylon taken from a moving train by a pylon spotter and as it went past a train spotter shouted to him “Oi mate get a life”!!

  105. aye but kadar is making his gob go about going, pity because he is top player in making

  106. just watched martins play 2nd half for wolf/fulham did nowt, didnt get a great lot of ball like

  107. worky tie a knot in it m8,dont resist any longer, waiting to read it, you pamper to your desire my old son

  108. dog-that was always the thing with Martins like. One day he’d turn up and score that screamer like he did at spurs, the other he couldnt hit a barn door and looked like he couldnt be arsed either. A canny player on his day like, but expensive considering it was a bit of a lottery week in week out.

All my mates used to say he was exciting n that. Fair enough he is but he’s exciting every 1 in 5, lol

  109. Worky will it involve Toonsy aswell ? if so it should make good reading why dont you send her a link ;) .

Batty stop bullying bloggers you nasty c*nt I take it you have got rid of all that gear Komfort got ye now that your back. But even though your a cu*t your a funny one ;)

  110. Ross have to admit I really liked Oba and also thought he was exciting.
Icedog meant to say I felt for you today mate you tried to give us a little tit bit then got jumped on. and it mightn’t mean anything to you but I know your not a WUM as most others should know Buddy

  111. Big Dave-Dont get me wrong mate when Martins was on form I loved watching him, blistering pace and he could hit a ball like nee one else. He just had those off days a little too regularly. At the time of him being here I was a huge fan, I think its only in hindsight when you watch him again you can sort of see why he might have been criticised. I might be wrong but I’m under the impression he doesnt exactly get a regular start at Wolfsburg?

  112. You could be right Ross you tend to over look players flaws untill they have gone then you notice them I do agree with you he was a bit of hit and miss but again I think he would have settled in well if he had of stayed but we will never know now :(

  113. Big Dave-I think all fans do it. Every team has their fan favourites that they will saw are top buzzer, but fans of other clubs looking on without the rose tinted glasses might not see the same thing. It will always happen and I think thats the way it was with Oba. In saying that though, that sounds a little harsh on him. It’s not like we all thought he was belter and no one else agreed, alot of fans i’ve spoken to say he’s a great player to watch-As long as the right Oba turns up.

The night we got promoted, apparently Rod was eatin’ fish crackers off his floor in his pad. LOL! That’s good stuff.

  116. Some funny stuff on here ^^^^^.
Had a great laugh reading some of it.
UTD111’s take on ‘wheyse keys louise’ & toonsy’s ripostes etc.
    Hilarious!
    :)

  117. Christ, I figured that you, a GEORDIE, would at least know what the sport is actually named :D

  118. BTW-

I take offense to being called a “Yank”. Irish-American, please.

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  119. Batty-

I’m good m8. Just holdin’ down me graft like (or at least I think that’s how you Geordies would say it hehe).

I’ve been on here more lately. Better banter here than on Ed’s site, but I still love ole’ Uncle Ed.

  120. Hey O’Hurley,
A little country just north of england, just south of scotland mate.
    ;)
    What about you?

  121. Clint-

Hehehe, that’s awesome. I love it.

I’m from Nashville, Tennessee. But for some inexplicable reason found myself bleedin’ black n white one day. Go figure.

  122. Then I started sayin’ “like” all the damn time. And one day referred to my woman as “pet” and “hinney”. Doc said it was just a case of Broon-itis. It’s apparently incurable, so now I’m stuck like this :D

Yeah, so does batty mate :)

  124. I bet y’can get hold of some top guitars down in ol’ Nashville?

You were obviously blessed with a discerning eye man.
& a sucker for a bit of Geordie passion.
    Good combination.

  125. Jay Jay-

    Hahaha outstanding.

So who’s the REAL Geordies on here and who’s not?

(Yeah, I know OHurley is yank, err Irish-American…)

  126. Clint-

Best guitars in the world. I owned many of them once upon a time. Then had to pay for uni. Blah.

And yeah- the Geordie passion is what drew me Newcastle. I just can’t get enough. There’s NO other team I’d ever dream of supportin’. My best m8s think I’m mental lol. They just don’t get it.

  127. Actually, I guess a better question is who’s NOT a real Geordie? Cuz we’re all adopted Geordies, right? :D

  128. Batty- without a doubt m8. Don’t tell me you’re on aboot Uncle Ed, now, are ye???

  129. Ed’s not from Newcastle? But he obviously BLEEDS black n white. What’s the big deal?

Hey man, you gotta be a bit radgy to love the Toon, par for the course mate.
    :)
    You’ll fit in just fine.
So long as y’not calling your lass a buer or a bint, she wouldn’t like that.
    :)

  133. LMAO!!!!

Yeah, I was riding through Wales one day and saw a Welshman having his way with a sheep.

  135. Jay Jay-

Cheers for knowing that there IS a Birmingham Alabama haha. I’ve been there many times.

    Clint-

Yeah, you could say I’m a bit of a radgie. When it comes to the Toon, I scream, chant at the tele, and hit things when bad things happen. And I got a black eye the last time I called a woman “bint”. Was still pretty funny though lol. I was PISSED at a bar downtown and there was an English chick there. I think she was a cockney. Well, she said she had a boyfriend and rejected me, so I told her she was nowt but a soddin’ bint. Her boyfriend didn’t like that very much. Couldn’t stop laughin though hehe.

  136. He was born in Gosforth, just down the street from a certain sheet metal worker. LMAO

  137. :)
Later batty, y’fu**a, he’s dropped one & now he’s skidaddlin, typical.

I’m sure one day there will be motion sensors and auto braking. Right now though, the future is a bit more primitive than that ;)

  139. Ohurley @181,

Many of the visitors to this site used to post on Ed’s site and know, as I do for a fact, that he was born in Newcastle, went to school in Newcastle and worked in Newcastle!

I presume that qualifies him to be a Geordie?

  140. probably the best decision mr calorie challenged has made since he has been here,in not having a celebration with open topped buses etc.
worky, what,s with the photo of chris hughton on the other thread?he looks like the wishmaster.

  141. Can anyone tell me one thing , how can Derby County in 16th place in the league draw with us at SJP 0-0 and then BEAT us 3-0 , the biggest loss of our season , at their place . What happened to the rest of their season ? If they are that poor how did they take 4 good points from us it staggers me !!

Anyway up the TOON lets party against blackpool , a bit of shear show – boating would be excellent !!

  142. nzedtoonman

  147. nzedtoon they’re out bogey team mate, seems like they always will be. They were the only team to beat us when they had the worst season in premier-league history. Just seems to be the way it is! Like Fulham and United…

  148. All this “not a true Geordie” bullsh!t is really getting a bit tired man.
I know its the minority but my word, I can see were the opposing fans get their amunition to take the p!ss out of the educated general Newcastle support. Because of or two loud mouth idiots keep coming out with nonsense “cockney”, “manc”, etc defamatory statements. Sad really.

Anyway, everyone’s talking about which players we might be bringing in this summer.
I’m more curious about the players we might lose. Although, I figure, if no one wanted them on the cheap from the Championship, then noone will want them now we can afford to hang onto them.

I can see, Nicky Butt, Fitz Hall, Pancrate, Lua Lua and maybe Alan Smith (looking for regular football) maybe leaving. Maybe Taylor? But noone else really.

  149. born in fenham – lived in whitley bay for 25 years before moving down south for uni, does that make me a scab then “batty man” oh and why do you have a derogatory jamaican slang word for your nickname – you a homo then?
