Taylor: Out for a while.
Taylor: Out for a while.
News has come in that it could be as long two or three months until first choice centre back, Steven Taylor, returns to the squad.

Taylor sustained a sprain in his medial ligament during Newcastle United’s Championship draw with West Bromwich Albion, and is one of several members of the first team backline to sustain injuries in Newcastle’s last few games. With right back, Danny Simpson (ankle) and left back, Jose Enrique (hamstring), also being crocked, and finally versatile right mid / right back, Ryan Taylor, suspended for a ridiculous sending off in the Magpies’s FA Cup away match with West Bromwich Albion, this created a huge problem in the Toon’s defensive ranks.

Since that time however, manager, Chris Hughton has brought in reinforcements for the back four in the shape of centre back, Mike Williamson from Portsmouth, centre back, Fitz Hall from Queen’s Park Rangers and finally, left back, Patrick van Aanholt from Chelsea.

  1. Gutted, but I’m glad that we’ve got extra bodies now. What concerns me is that Stevey Boy had a wonderful habit of getting in last second blocks and I fear we’re going to miss that.

  2. who said mr hugton couldn’t attract players to the club ?……injuries are not a problem with chris’s qaulity signings…..& 3 cheers for big mike for raiding his piggy bank.

    ….batty your bet is a knocker m8.

  3. Fair play they have seen a problem and acted swiftly, usually it was dawdling put the current injuries have speeded up the momentum.

Striker now please Mike you big Gay bear :)

  4. Where’s them stories?

Nobody really knows, West Ham are skint!

Can they pay up front? Their in a relegation scrap – They need proven players now – That’s where they’ll be spending their money.

    Well it should be anyway.

  5. That’s what I’m thinking, Stu mate. Honestly can’t see it holding much water, but if the lad wants to stay down south then simple geography is standing in our way.

Batty, why the f*ck would you let her know about it? And I thought that you had a bit of savvy :(

  6. Stuart79 – Your dead right, Westham wont spent the money they have on him, we are favs to sign him and with Chris Hughton surprisingly confident that makes me more confident!

“Nobody really knows, West Ham are skint!”

They have the “Dirty Davids” now Stuart. They aren’t skint anymore.

  8. thump she found me bet in me sock draw , but she thinks i will get just over a grand back if we win the leauge so i can still pocket 800 ;)

  9. Worky,

They’ve already stated that the club are in huge debt and they need a striker who can keep them up. Moses is too much a future buy for them, they need a here and now striker.

Also the two Davids aren’t renowed for spending heavily on players are they?

  10. Aye, wor lass did the same thing when I was going to put a bet on the Boro game. Was gonna put a few quid on winning 2-0 but she talked me out of it.

You can imagine my mood after that game -_-

  11. icedog he,s keeping safe thanks , he,s driving round in 1 of them new panthers they reckon they can withstand upto a 100 k bomb and the biggest they have found oot there is aboot 28 so hopefully he will be fine m8

  12. I invested £500 quid with a mate who happens to be a proffesional gambler.

We were £4k up until Breeders cup and lost £2k.

He doesn’t bet on any other sport other than flat horse racing.

We put the bet on in the morning at about 12/1 and when it goes off it’s about 4/1 – It’s a joke!

stu have u got rid of that 4×4 yet ?

March mate. Hopefully no snow after then. Although I’m getting a TT but it’s also 4 x 4 but I dunno how it will be in the snow.

  14. stu i knw a guy who is mates with mick channon he gis me a few horses every now and then he gave me som tala which i posted on here for the plate i took 25s it won at 16s

  15. Batty,

It’s a dam disgrace what some people know.

We got a tip one morning for a horse called Queen of Pentacles or summat like that, and it won at 14/1. He has me putting on £100 win and £50 EW for the bets.

Maidens are the best – His contacts know a few owners and trainers and they know if their horse is any good and if it’s going to have a good race. Watch the betting on them.

I bought a day on the Morning Line and a day at channel 4 racing at a charity do for York in June this year. Cannot wait – I reckon the guys in racing know a shit load more than they let on.

  16. I see we’ve been linked with Erik Husklepp.

I’ve had him in my Football Manager team for about 7 seasons now. He is dirt cheap and extremely skilled with insanely high stats in that game.

Let’s hope its true to life if we get him. He is a full international too so a higher pedigree than Moses.

  17. Oh although the BMW did get nicked, they parked it up and went back for it later – The thick knackers didn’t think it would have a tracker on it. When they went back for it the coppers were there waiting – Mongs!

    So no claim luckily

  18. Stuart-thats a brilliant story. What a right bunch of mongs! I like hearing stories like that, couple of knuckledraggers getting whats coming to them.
I’m clueless regarding the horses like. Had a night at the dogs which surprisingly was a laugh, only been to the races once and i was too young to go throwing cash around anyway sadly. Remember the old man did stick a sly score on a horse for me at 5/1 and it came up good. He claimed that was the horse he picked, i’d picked another one and walked off with £100. I was only about 10 but that money was mine and i’ll never forget it like, lol.

  19. there’s nowt nicer than a shiny black car….the trouble is when you drive it for a couple miles it gets covered in shit and looks terrible..silver for me every time..

…stu it’s strange you should mention him..my dog’s called nelson & he got ran over by someone driving a white car..

  25. Let’s just hope Jose makes a miraculous recovery ‘just’ after the transfer window closes.
& S Taylor’s injury becomes ‘not as serious as first thought’.
At least we’re getting some coverage in.
It’s all starting to border on the sensible.

“Do we have a left-winger if Jonas is injured?
    I mean a proper one.”

Clint, Routledge can fill left wing, and IF we get Moses he’s been a left winger mostly.

  27. Worky,
aye, but then it’s ‘who’ll play on the right’?
If Routledge plays left, i’m not gonna assume on moses at this juncture mate.

  28. Evenin gents. On the train and just sober enough to type. I’m hoping for 3-1 tomorrow. Newbies at the back: bad. Newbie on the wing: good. Got a good feeling about routledge.

  29. TGS,
do y’reckon moses will go bench warm a top half prem team or join a bottom half downward spiraler?

  30. icedog,
I’ll take a point now,if Nolan plays then we must revert to a 5 man midfield and loan striker as he is so ineffective in a 4 4 2 formation.
Would love a win though lol.

  31. Any old raggy arsed win tomoz would do me just fine.
Away to a tough team with little finesse & another cup final, in front of the cameras.

“WORKY;been lot of spec on moses, what is your gut feeling on were he will end up:)”

I don’t know, icedog. But I have heard that he would rather join Newcastle than Nottingham Forest or West Bromwich Albion.

  33. cant believe the shallow braggart’s that come on here – legally !?! taking money off the unprotected people from our local community.

does the white hairdresser’s car come c/w a chauffer you scumbag – if you never have a minutes peace with your beautiful new car then i’ll be as happy as a pig in shit.

  34. Whumpie,
Good post, I just think that his fee will not represent a gamble to a decent EPL club.
He will almost certainly be swayed by his agent, who’s motive is to sell him to the highest bidder as his cut will be larger.
Maybe it’s me being cynical or realistic, however I would love to see him sign.

  35. icedog,
Expecting a physical game tomorrow, so I would start with Carroll. Loverman and Ranger waiting on the bench.

  36. so you dont belive w/ham storeys then,i know they have bit of cash (gold&sul)but thought zola would go for exp first, dont think he would a punt at this stage, might be wrong

  37. icedog,
WHU are on the verge of signing Benni McCarthy and are also interested in Mido. I think Moses would be a gamble to them at this stage of the season.

  38. TGS,
    thought so, makes sense.

    icedog,
aye mate, y’d think zola would gan for experience, position they’re in, not getting drawn into a punt on potential.
He’s good in this league, but we’re a better, more intermediate chance for him to grow further, before being thrown in at the deep end(bottom) of the prem.
    Hey?

previously if i’d realised i was talking to an immature tartan juvenile i can assure you i wouldn’t have bothered.

  40. Team for tomorrow:

    Harper
    R.Taylor, Williamson, Collo, Aanholt
    Smith
    Routledgee Guthrie Jonas
    Nolan
    Carroll

Subs: Loverman, Hall, Kadar, Pancrate, Krull
    Butt, Ranger.

Nolan is ineffective in a 4 4 2 formation, he offers so much more in a 5 man midfield.

Looking at this team and the subs bench there would appear to be a few options available for
    Hughton.

  41. CLINT two or three of us on here might make good managers ha ha who do you think will the next ones for the chop me,brown @ hull& t.morbray at celtic?

  42. It seems to me that all signings/loans are designed so that we don’t lose what about some signings that say we want to win.

  43. icedog – do you know a gentleman that goes by the name of isaac hunt ? – i think you may have met him on edward’s blog.

  44. CF – yes R.Taylor is back.
    Jonas is fit as well.
Aanholt for Kadar? Chelsea will have insisted that he plays as part of the 1 month loan agreement whilst the The Bull is out. So I would be suprised if he doesn’t play.
Obama will play R.Taylor ahead of Kadar…….

  45. clint – are you aware of a chap called punk skunk ?.

i’m sure you’d get on well with him…nite for now.

  46. Ah!
Ok, y’probably right about Aanholt, didn’t think of that.
I’d probably play R Taylor first too, good dead specialist & chips in with assists & the odd goal.
    Glad Jonas is fit.
Ta for the info like, been out of the loop for a couple of days.

  47. How roy,
aye i remember him from ed’s blog.
I remember isaac hunt too, you were asking icedog about.

  48. ROYCROPPER name rings abell, havet been on EDS blog since he came back cannot be chewed with password and pop up cr– why roy??

  49. o m g. .
The thicko’s have been on tonight.
Why are people saying they are impressed with ashley in this window?
Hooters has brought players in on loan or for peanuts.
    Other teams left overs.
Is this what we’ ve been reduced to?
And yous are happy with it?
    Seriously?
Someone please tell me what it is that you are impressed with instead of stating ashley has seen the light.
He has spent virtually zip .
I dont expect big spending, i expect exactly what hes done.
Nothing more than cheap players who are second rate and not good enough for the premier. Please tell me why you are so impressed?
    Intrigued.

  50. Bobby shinton – “Nothing more than cheap players who are second rate and not good enough for the premier.” We are not in the premier league. We have spent more than arsenal, liverpool or most premier league clubs. We have brought in cover for the injured defenders and addressed the lack of speed and mobility up front. It’s not mega bucks of old or marquee signings but it is intelligent – at least on the part of houghton.

    Thats what i`m sayin !
Hey get out there and bring in all the mediocrities you can for nowt = a mediocre team, which is what we are and does`nt say a lot about the fizzy.
Dunno who`s orchestrating these moves, but wish they had concentrated on quality as opposed to quantity.
