Wild boars! Never lose it…

Bringing home the bacon?
Bringing home the bacon?
“The wild boys are calling
On their way back from the fire
In august moon’s surrender to
A dust cloud on the rise”

It’s been a while since I made any musical references in a headline so I thought this was as good a time as any, and it’s mainly for MT’s benefit. Of course there’s a slight play on words, it’s subtle but I’m sure you’ll get it…

But it’s based in a fairly serious story, following reports that Newcastle United’s young Hungarian U21 international Tamas Kadar has been in the wars after his car collided with a herd of wild boar while back home in Veszprem.

Kadar had been playing in his side’s victory over the Italian U21s, and he came away with some slightly bruised ribs but though he will see the medical staff on his return, it’s not thought he is doubtful for the Preston game. His dad had been driving the family back home and fortunately Kadar and his family were unscathed in the accident but the car was a write-off and two of the animals were reported as having died.

‘Tis a sad day for the boar population but no doubt Kadar will have been relatively untroubled by the incident, having had plenty of experience with wild boar when he came up against Dean Windass down at the Darlington friendly. Speculation is being played down over claims of wreckless driving, after bungling cops made a pig’s ear of gathering evidence.

  1. bowburn,
‘bringing home the bacon’ is a musical reference.

  2. I’m still trying to work out how to fit The Incredible Bongo Band into an article.  Bonus points for people who can name one of their recording without referring to google or wiki. :)

Bongo rock, Apache, In a gadda da vida, Let there be drums, Bongolia etc. Didn’t have to check, I have quite a few of ’em!

  4. Micky, worky how’s about –

    I’m Drummin’ of a White Christmas;
In Drums (in Dreams, a bit tenuous)  or
    In the Drummertime (Bongo Jerry).

Isn’t Jon Bon[go] Jovi touring at the mo?

  5. Ha ha, nice one Worky.  I discovered them via The Sugar Hill Gang record that most people will know.  That record samples Apache very heavily, as do may other tracks such as Inner City Life by Goldie, even though he choped the beats around quite a bit, you can still recognise it.

Micky, I met some of the old Sugarhill Gang quite a few years ago.  My friend told me that some guy named Keith LeBlanc booked his PA system and had I heard of him? I couldn’t resist the opportunity to help him out that evening, it was a xxxxing excellent night!

  7. Apologies to all the people who will steam in later moaning this is not about football.  Ahh stuff it, I don’t care. :p

Worky – I read a while back that The Sugar Hill Gang were basically just put together by the record company (Sugar Hill Records) as a promotional tool.  I was gutted.   When I was younger I used to think these guys were really cool and “street”.  This is very important if you think you are the next Crazy Legs Crane.

  8. Tell ya what fellas, its so much better not having to deal with those sodding adverts from .com :D
