It would appear the club has confirmed the appointment but declined to comment any further. However, managing director of Ampersand Emma Blackmore said they would be working in close partnership with the club over the next 12 months.
Though it probably won’t surprise the fans, it seems slightly back-to-front to not get the experts in first before the recent .com@St James’ Park fiasco? Or perhaps they were working on their advice? Slight worrying?
Presumably, one of the first things Ampersand will want to do is work with the club and seek assurances that the waters are calmed to ensure the environment is conducive to effective marketing. Starting with a rendition of the scouse parody where they take to the streets on matchday, curly wigs atop their brows, gesticulating with their ‘calm down’ hands and coining the well-worn cliche? Maybe Terry Mac will come back for some pointer sessions?
