Smoggie Ranger?
Smoggie Ranger?
News emerged yesterday suggesting that Middlesbrough could be looking to take Nile Ranger to The Riverside on loan.

Now apart from all the jokes about empty seats at their ground and the less than glamorous surroundings of Middlesbrough, I actually think that this would be a good move.

I don’t know about you guys and gals, but I’m getting increasingly fed up with what is looking to be some of the best youth talent we have had on our books for some considerable time not getting as much as a sniff of the first-team. Highly coveted youngsters like Ranger and Haris Vuckic will just stagnate if they aren’t given the opportunity to flourish.

First-team football should be part of any young players development. No amount of Under-18 games or reserve matches will beat the cut and thrust of playing in the first team. A case in point being Kazenga Lua Lua who is currently plying his trade at Brighton, and is earning numerous pladits for his performances by all accounts. (more…)

Whether that point is proving that they are good enough to not get relegated again or to prove that they can actually play at the highest level, they all have something to prove to the fans, and most importantly, to themselves.

One of the players who is looking to establish himself is Nile Ranger, who has been chirping on today about how he relishing the opportunity of testing himself at the highest domestic level and how he is here because he wants to play, not because he wants to make up the numbers. (more…)

Ranger to be loaned out?
Ranger to be loaned out?
Nile Ranger now appears to be a likely candidate for the St James’ Park exit door during the summer as a loan move is being lined up for the 19-year-old striker, according to his agent.

Having being thrust into first team action early on in the season due to injuries elsewhere in the squad, the feeling was that Ranger could have a bright future ahead of him as he displayed some great hold-up play whilst plowing a lone furrow up front on his own.

Unfortunately his finishing wasn’t as good as the rest of his play and he was unable to bag his first competitve goal in a Newcastle shirt until December. Having said that, the lad has scored goals at all youth and reserve levels and has even impressed for the England Under-19’s. But that hasn’t stopped him falling down the pecking order at St James’ Park fuelling rumours that his alleged playboy lifestyle away from the pitch has been affecting his application during training.
