Malcolm Dix: Honorary vice president of NUFCNewcastle United honorary vice-President, Malcolm Dix, has urged Mike Ashley to offer Alan Shearer a rolling contract as pre-season training approaches.
Dix, the founder member of the “Magpie” group which brought Sir John Hall to the helm at St James’s back in 1992 said yesterday:
“I have spoken to someone at the club and made the suggestion that Alan Shearer be offered a rolling contract, and that message is being passed on to Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias,” adding, “It would help Alan and help the club.(more…)
As all of you know, I had taken a pro-club view all year, defending Ashley in trying to re-build and restructure the club from the hideous mess left by FFS (spit).

Quotes from The Telegraph ‘insider’ as opposed to a ‘spokesperson’, tell us that this group is financially responsible and see it as imperative to consolidate our debts and clean up the balance sheet and presumably ensure we’re self-sufficiently funded, should they gain ownership.
S.S. Toon yesterday. Sorry, I don’t know why my article headlines are inspired by the music industry. I guess there are many fitting titles out there for the current state of the club, come to think of it. Anyway, that’s not where this is going.
Look back two years to the month – June 2007 and Mike Ashley buys Sir John Hall’s 41.6% stake in the club and before you know it, he’s bought up the whole lot by July. Our new incumbent looking to the future with an impressive CV, ambition, fresh ideas, a loaded wallet and here to have fun apparently. Oh how did it all go so horribly wrong? (more…)
