Get well soon Benny boy! With good news in short supply recently, Newcastle fans should hopefully be boosted by the news that Hatem Ben Arfa could be back in action sooner rather than later.
More details are beginning to emerge over the extent of the damage caused as a result of the double leg break Ben Arfa suffered a fortnight ago.
The news from the surgeons is that Ben Arfa will be back as good as before, and he may even return before the March date that has been unofficially mentioned.
One of the surgeons who operated on Ben Arfa also operated on Djibril Cisse’s broken leg, and that was a for more serious leg break than the one Ben Arfa has suffered. I’m not so sure if there is ever a good leg-break, but if there is then apparently Ben Arfa has one.
“One of the doctors involved with Hatem is the same French doctor that operated on Cisse so he knows what he’s doing,” Ben Arfa’s agent Simon Stainrod told the Sunday Sun. (more…)
Worried about Wigan?Welcome one and all to the only place to be for matchday experience, providing you can’t get to down to St James’ Park of course.
Stay with us and discuss all the goings on here as Newcastle take on Wigan Athletic this afternoon in what is set to be another do or die game for the home side.
Chris Hughton will again be looking to bounce back from two disappointing home defeats against Blackpool and Stoke, although today we can hopefully use a little bit of injustice to motivate us towards gaining the three points that we so vitally need.
I’m not going to go into detail about why the team should be pumped up for this game. They should be pumped up anyway, regardless, but the events that unfolded a fortnight ago at The City of Manchester Stadium should be fresh in the minds of our lads.
Beware of the zog!Newcastle entertain the pie-munchers of Wigan Athletic tomorrow in what is set to be another do or die encounter.
It’s another game against a team that is tipped to be in and around the relegation scrap with us come the end if the season, and Newcastle will have to make sure that it doesn’t go the same way as our last two home game against a similar calibre of opposition went.
Newcastle need to get back to winning ways, and a home game against Wigan should present the ideal opportunity to see that happen. It won’t be an easy game though, none of them are, and Wigan will have their eyes firmly set on taking the three points back with them in their minibus to Lancashire.
Chris Hughton will begin a lengthly spell without Hatem Ben Arfa after the French schemer suffered that horrendous double leg break against Manchester City a fortnight ago. Steven Taylor is on the verge of returning to full training but will still be unavailable, as will Steve Harper, Leon Best and Dan Gosling. (more…)
Sing your hearts out for the lads!Bouncebackability is a funny word, and the origins of it remain fuzzy.
Some say that Iain Dowie made it up on the spot whilst covering a match on Soccer Saturday whilst other, perhaps more enlightened, folk claim that is was first used in ‘The Statistician’ back in 1998.
Anyway, I digress. However the word was created, whether that be from our furrowed browed former assistant manager or from anyone else, the meaning of the word will need to be applied this weekend.
Another home game, another winnable home game, and another opportunity to put some points on the board presents itself on Saturday afternoon, and this is an opportunity that Newcastle can ill afford to pass over. (more…)
