Does the Champions League await for Newcastle United?

Champions League Trophy
The ultimate prize.
I think it’s fair to say that this year’s Premier League campaign has been one to remember so far, and that’s for all the right reasons. With the well-publicised wealth from the club’s owners, the Magpies have gone from strength to strength both on and off the field, which will of course, raise the expectations of the St James’ Park faithful.

Eddie Howe’s appointment back in 2021 has been nothing short of brilliant, and the former AFC Bournemouth boss is well on his way to taking the Magpies to the next level in what will be a hugely exciting project. Many Newcastle supporters could have been forgiven for thinking that it would take a couple of seasons to transition and solidify themselves as a club in the top-half of the Premier League, and so they will have been pleasantly surprised with the progress that the club has made in a relatively short space of time.

Heading towards March, we see Eddie Howe’s side mounting a serious charge for a top-four finish in the Premier League, and it’s certainly an achievable aim for Newcastle, who have established themselves as a real force in the top-flight. Howe deserves a considerable amount of credit for his role in their upturn in form, as many rival supporters have been quick to point out the increased wealth of the club as the main factor, but when you look at Newcastle’s squad, you still have the likes of Callum Wilson, Fabian Schar, Sean Longstaff, and Miguel Almiron in their starting XI, and so it’s a credit to Howe for getting the best out of them, as well as integrating the new additions into Newcastle’s squad.

As we head into the final few months of this year’s Premier League campaign, Newcastle will fancy their chances of a top-four finish, especially since the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been anywhere near their best this season. We’ll learn a lot about how far this Newcastle side have come this season in their remaining matches this term, as they’ve still got to face the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Brentford. If they have serious ambitions of finishing in the top-four this term, then they simply have to be beating the teams around them in the Premier League table, but given what we’ve seen so far this season, that’s certainly a realistic challenge.

Experts at My Betting Sites have revealed that 888sport are offering odds of 17/10 for Newcastle to finish in the top-four of the Premier League in the 2022/23 season, along with other betting sites that are offering Newcastle’s prices for a top-four finish.

This is only the beginning for Newcastle though, as Champions League qualification could be just the start of an exciting adventure both in continental and domestic competitions, as they look to establish themselves as a heavyweight amongst some of the best clubs in the world.
