The Joey Barton interview video.

Posted on December 1st, 2011 | 61 Comments |

As an addendum to my recently published transcription of Joey Barton’s interview for QPR ‘blog “Open All R’s,” and also Derek Llambias’ response to it, I’m posting the video of the part where he lifts the lid on what was happening behind the scenes at Newcastle United during his spell there.

Thanks to Paul at Playback Media.

  1. I think actually watching the interview rather than reading written transcripts puts a whole different spin on things. I think what he is saying is spot on to be honest and he has obviously been asked about his time at the club.

  2. its a QPR podcast and its all about nufc haha!

think joey is genuine but has gone about things in the wrong way and he made the board get rid of him

i love all the crap about players this and players that they want loyalty but never show it

he should have stayed with us this season and not let his football do the talking

“its a QPR podcast and its all about nufc haha!”

“think joey is genuine but has gone about things in the wrong way and he made the board get rid of him”

What about Steve Harper and the rest Geordiedug?

The whole thing was about eighty minutes and they did talk about other stuff, such as Gary Speed and more QPR related things.

  4. No Joey does not need to “move on” because what he is telling us is how the jokers running OUR club are self centered, egotistical morons who directly or indirectly put our hard earned cash into THEIR pockets. I for one dont agree with their policies and I would like to see the back of them as all they behave like are leaches bleeding the club of its lifeblood of players who will not bend to their ways.
The team are doing great at the moment, THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH M.A. & D.L, only the players and manager / playing staff, get the credit for that

  5. Fascinating stuff. Another insight into how the ownership operates. Thanks Worky for posting it, thanks Joey for saying it..

  6. someone show me the evidence of were theyve taking money instead of saying they take it?
i dont like ma n dl but how can u not give them credit for how the team is doin after all most of the players in the team were signed by ma so he has to have some credit

  7. What a joke – first llambias uses speeds name in vain and now pardew says we need to win for Gary speed – it’s a fookin disgrace and he should be sacked, get an article up about it !

  8. Fook and now I heard the club are gonna do a tribute, song and everything…… Yet again jumping on a bandwagon to look good in the press …… Bastards

They were mostly signed by Graham Carr who was signed by Chris Hughton davy.

As for where the money is going, I’ve mentioned on these pages many time before that annual audited accounts for NUFC are available for a very small sum from Companies House as per legal requirements.

    http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/

  10. …who was signed by kk, who was signed by ma, who was signed by sjh, who was signed by thatch, was sired by lucifer.

    :)

  11. graham carr was appointed by ashly not houghton, worky hav u seen the accounts if so were is the money going?

  12. We need to face reality, we were massively in debt ( think we all know that) had an unsustainable wage bill and were heading for the abyss
Whatever you think of fatty and all the mistakes he’s made we’re now bizarrely in the best position since the SBR days – do I like him or Llambias, def not but ultimately I’ve enjoyed this season a lot more than the previous 7 and as a fickle fan ( we all are) that’s good enough

No, he was signed by Hughton Davy. He confirmed it in an interview.

“We need to face reality, we were massively in debt”

fourfouroneone, In the last set of published accounts, we were more in debt than we were when Ashley took over the club from Hall & Shepherd, though of course, that should have changed by the next set of accounts are released to the public. We’ll see.

  14. well for me ppl seem to want to know all the bad stuff that ashly n co r up to but seem to wanna brush aside all the good things he does as nothing to do with him which is wrong. although many may not agree with selling carroll, nolan, barton, jose its very hard to argue when there replaced with ba, cabaye, santon n obertan who for me are proven them selves to b better players, also academy is better than ever, he appointed a great manager, a great scout, he also signed or funded the signing of all r best players colo, tiote hba

  15. also if ashly is taking money from the club is it really any different from sheppard n sir john hall who made loads of money from the club

I don’t really see the logic in that Davy. if someone punched you in the face, would that mean that it was ok for everyone else to punch you in the face too?

    Yes Clint.

  17. Worky @23:

I doubt it makes much difference, probably just an accounting term because if Ashley demanded the money he would bankrupt his asset, NUFC, so what would be the point?

Speed’s suicide has confused me totally. There has to be more to it than we have seen so far. People don’t just top themselves without a reason and everybody is just speculating that he was depressed when he didn’t show any outward signs of it.

  18. Any chance anytime soon there being an article about football and specifically our kick-off on Saturday?

EVERYONE ON THIS BLOG NEEDS TO MOVE ON!!! Can’t believe we have 2-3 articles about a former player saying negatives things about us.

Put up the interviews from Ba and Cayabe talking about the CURRENT positive stuff about NUFC.

This blog is increasing becoming a negative blog again. Why?

GS, So what would be the point of making it payable on demand in the first place? ;-)

“People don’t just top themselves without a reason and everybody is just speculating that he was depressed when he didn’t show any outward signs of it.”

Sometimes they just do it because they are depressed. What are the “outward signs” anyway? Sometimes people prefer to keep things out of the public eye because of prejudice, misunderstanding and because it makes them vulnerable.

If Andy Mac does a match preview Kamar. Personally, I’m f**king sick of doing them all ATM as I’m getting bad headaches.

  22. Worky @31, that’s what I am saying, it’s an accounting thing and doesn’t mean anything in real life/terms.

I can do a Chelsea preview for you:

Who is the biggest tosser on their team?

    John Terry
    Didier Drogba
    Ashley Cole

It has to be John Terry, nobody is a bigger tosser than John Terry.

    Who has the best haircut?

    David Luiz
    Fab Coloccini

Sorry to say it but it is Sideshow Luiz.

Will we finish above Chelsea this year?

I hope so, but I fear not.

    What will the score be?

    2-1 Newcastle

Yeah, that’s a pretty sad preview. I think you should do it as it couldn’t be any worse than me.

  23. Kamar says: Any chance anytime soon there being an article about football and specifically our kick-off on Saturday? yes – as soon as you write it mate!

Why not? Just put together your thoughts on the match in 2 or 3 paragraphs & see what reaction you get – I’d look forward to reading it and will definately respond with one of my own.

    Go for it!

  24. worky – I know what its like, I’ve not been fit for years now, take a bit of a break mate. If you can stick a short new post up for the week end the rest of us will keep it going. Have a couple of asprins with yer next dram!

  25. Well here’s what Chelseadaft.org blog thinks : “We need 3 points. Chelsea are in a slump, badly need a win, getting criticised all over the place, reports that the players are turning against AVB, we are asking to play a deeper defensive line and for now, AVB seems to be sticking to his guns.

So with the news that it appears Didier Drogba is ahead of Fernando Torres to be selected for this game tomorrow lunchtime.

Forget Newcastle at the minute (no disrespect) as I feel that we have more than enough problems at the moment to worry about any opposition we come up against, we need to concentrate on us.

For me, I think this team can get the job done and the right result tomorrow:

Cech, Ivanovic, Terry (C), Cole, Mikel, Romeu, Mata, Lampard, Sturridge, Drogba in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Mikel to play next to Romeu in the middle of the pitch to protect the back four, Romeu to be the ball player of the two. All I want Mikel to do is win the ball and give it to someone early.

Lampard, Mata and Sturridge to play in a line in behind Drogba. These four should all be given the freedom to pass, move and roam around the pitch creating space for each other. If Drogba isn’t cutting it and holding the ball up, Torres to come on at half time”.

    So, not over-confident are they!
Notice the 5 man midfield – with their players they will try to dominate posession and score on the break.

1-1 will be a good result, 1-0 evem better

    Sorry to hear that Supermac.

I was gannin’ to write a match preview, but then AndyMac said he was going to write one. Now, I don’t know whether to write one myself. The way I do them, they take about three hours to write the basic thing, four by there all edited with images and stuff like that. I moght do that and then find out that he’s done one as well! I need to get down to see the quack again if this thing doesn’t go away, and catch up on some other stuff too, but Hugh’s away ATM so it’s all up to me and I feel like I’ve got an axe in me heed with these headaches!

“Worky @31, that’s what I am saying, it’s an accounting thing and doesn’t mean anything in real life/terms.”

Does that mean that it unenforceable, and that it isn’t really debt then GS? Because the original point was that we’re in much less debt than we’re used to be, but as of the last set of published accounts, it was actually more.

  28. GS asks – Will we finish above Chelsea this year?
who would believe that we would ask a queation like this at the start of the season! Amazing!
On paper they should (and probably will) be above us at the end – but right now we are the form team and can beat them at home!
We both need players – but they need to rebuild whereas we need to add to a good developing squad. So at the end of the jan window they could have simply have bought anyone available – but we expect to be restricted to 2 or 3 bargains (out of the dozen being touted).
I’d settle for 1 decent defender & 1 good forward, but I have no preferences – I wanted Gervinho but he’s not set arsenal alight or Bendtner who has helped Bruce to an early retirement, so that shows what I know.
    – incidentaly I’ve just seen on BBC that has O’neil has replaced Bruce. I thought he would replace CH for us, and on his record since then I have been relieved that he didn’t. At best he will keep 5under1and in the PL for 2 more seasons – winter & spring, or as they say on wearside winter & winter.

  29. Tiote is out for this game and Pardew isn’t banking on him being available against Norwich either:

“Cheik won’t be involved on Saturday, and I’m not going to say he’ll play a week later,”.

If he wasn’t going in January then I think he would of been fit by now.

  30. Supermac

    Here we go….

Before we started the current run of three matches with our fellows at the top table I thought that the Chelsea match would be the most difficult of the three primarily because of our own fans expectations and recent form at home together with the relative and unpredictable poor form of Chelsea.

Our track record against Chelsea at home has not been good and if you believe in ‘horses for courses’ it could be a difficult game for us. But, which Chelsea will turn up? In the past Chelsea have been pretty consistent with a core of very experienced top class players who have been regulars with the club for quite a few years. However, this season they seem to be going through a stuttering transformation that I believe has undermined their confidence resulting in poor results that has brought criticisms from fans and media.

I feel the Chelsea players have been stung by criticisms and will want to prove all the doubters wrong and will be ‘up for it’. But I feel that if we can score early and be as resolute as we were against the two Manchester clubs then we will see Chelsea’s confidence evaporate.

I would play the same team that played Man United with Sammy replacing the banned Jonas. I thought Ben Arfa improved with each game and has earned an extended run at the expense of a recovered Best who should be on the bench. Since the Man United game, I hope Pardew has drilled into Sammy the need to follow Jonas’ example and track back and help out Raylor. I did notice a tongue lashing by Guthrie at him in the last game. I had considered matching Chelsea’s 4-3-3 formation with Best alongside Ba up front and Ben Arfa on the left wing but Pardew’s 4-4-2 formation is tried and tested, and no reason to change now.

I was confident of a result against Man United and resigned to a defeat against Man City but cannot predict with certainty a result against Chelsea. The head says it will be a draw and the heart says we will win.

  31. Tiote is away no questions asked. It what happend woth carrol all over again. Its fatmans way of letting us no without makin it offical (slimy bastard) hope im wrong but crnt see it.

    2-1 nufc at wkend

AndyMac, as per your request a list of flower recipes. I’ve copied and pasted it from a website so am not sure if clicking on them will work. If not just google flower recipes, enjoy.

    • Rose-Glazed Brie
    • Salmon Nasturtium Pizza
    • Strawberry Mousse in Tulip Cups

    • Sweet Wine Lavender Cookies

    It doesn’t!!

And just to bore every one even more, my granddaughter was somewhat surprised when I started chomping on seaweed when we were paddling through rockpools in Sidmouth on holiday this year. Really tasty.

  33. I see the tribute to Gary Speed planned for tomorrow has been postponed by request from his widow and will now take place at our next home game against Swansea.

  34. Our track record may not be good against Chelsea, but with 3 games against them last season we did not lose to them. Now we have a much much better squad, it is possible to get a win.

  35. Grumpy – your right, only 10! devious cockney show-offs!

Karmar – “The head says it will be a draw and the heart says we will win” my thoughts as well.
I wouldn’t complain about the same team – but I’d hope it is more of a 4-4-1-1 formation with HBA doing a bit more work in central midfield but not dropping back too deep.
I did not notice that Samiobe “tongue lashing by Guthrie” but it sounds like more evidence of how Guthrie has blossomed this season – he was on my list of light weights at the start, but again it shows that Pardew is a better judge than I am!
I hope all this talk of Tiote going is rubbish cos I’d love to see Tiote playing behind a Guthrie-Cabaye midfield.
Chelsea stuttering? yes, the future of many of their players looks uncertain and it is being reflected in their play – I think they fear getting beat tomorrow and will try too hard & get frustrated – possibly too many fouls & a couple of yellows (even a red).
They face ending the season in 5th or 6th place and it frightens the life out of them – they may be looking for a draw.
They are there for the taking – so lets get stuck in!

  41. Worky @31:

“outward signs” would be anger, mood swings, boozing, drugs, doing things that you don’t normally do, going on the Jeremy Kyle show.

    I’ll leave it there though.

The game starts at 6.45am here in Chicago which means I will have to get up at 5 o’clock to have a few pints before kick-off.

  42. Yep 0745 est. for me, though it’s coffee and toast, Amstel time is much later.
    Someone mentioned Sammy starting ?
Hey! thre could be two Ameobis starting, though i hope thats not the case, why ?
I dont know it may be genetic, but they both have the matador attitude to-wards defending.
And the success of this side for the most part has been because everyone has done their part in defending, even Ba.
I’m not saying Sammy should’nt play, he can cause problems for defenders, but right now he’s better getting experience late in the game as a sub.
    Soh!here’s my pick,

    _____________KRUL____________
    ______SAYLOR_____COLOCINNI___
    SIMPSON________________SANTON
    _______CABAYE____GUTHRIE_____
    OBERTAN______________BEN ARFA
    _________BEST________________
    _____________BA______________

    Samy
    Gosling
    Raylor
    Shola
    Golie

  43. We have to give Santon a chance to see how he does, face it we are not sacrificing much in a makeshift LB that is Raylor.
With Guthrie defending on the center left, will hopefully take a bit of the load off Santon, cause HBA, though he does track back , is no Jonas.
If Best is fit, rather have him working behind Ba, at least he puts in a defensive shift also, whereas Shola ?
Well we know defense is not in his vocabulary!
Obertan had a good game and have no idea why he was subbed at Old Trafford, let him play the whole game.
We have Gosling, who can fill in for Guthrie, if he runs outta steam and Sammy can come on late for HBA if needed.
Shola can sub for either of the two forwards.
Or Raylor can sub for Santon, whatever the situation calls for.
Would like to have Tiote and Marveaux available, but we are short of quality in depth, hopefully this can be partially remedied come the winter window, with Pieters, possibly Miaga and Ridgewell.
We can go for Hoilett and Giroud in the summer.
    Yeah right !

  44. Worky, I think I’ll hold off on the seaweed recipes just in case people start thinking I’m a bit strange. ;)

  45. Chuck I can’t see AP dropping Raylor although he may well be facing some very good player on that side. Be a real test for him without Jonas helping out.

  46. @worky
What about Steve Harper and the rest Geordiedug?

with regards to harper and the rest what is their value to nufc now

harper has been an excellent servant but we can all agree hes wasted his talent playing second fiddle at nufc and tim krul is better so hes not needed and just because hes served his time doesnt garuntee him his place

nolan wanted a 5 year deal and no club in the premiership was willing to give him that so he left for west ham which tells its own storey about his motivation

smith is like a verruca we cant shift until his contract runs out again is nufc and playing football his main concern????

enrique wanted a bigger club with a more realistic chance of champions league so he left

carroll was advised wrong in my opinion(by nolan) but the board wanted the money so he had to leave

and barton should have stayed this season and let his feet not his mouth negotiate a new contract! hes to good a player to be at the likes of qpr but they offered him a good deal so hes left!

my point is players are employees and if they rock the boat like anyone else does at their work you run the risk of being shown the door and if your really not happy then don’t take your wages at the end of the week and move on! footballers live in a fantasy world and yes you have to look at your long term future but you also have to ask yourself what you want out of playing!

out of all these players we miss enrique and barton but we are making up for it with a bunch of hungry motivated players whom money isnt there only desire!
