Which Everton will show up today?
Which Everton will show up today?
Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our regular “match banter” feature, a place where we can all share the experience of the match.

This afternoon we face Everton, an excellent team under manager David Moyes. However it is also one which has had little luck against the Magpies at St James’s Park, winning only two of their last sixteen games there, with their last SJP victory being under the management of Walter Smith!

For more extensive pre match team news, words from the managers, pre match speculation etc, please check out our match preview. If you have any good links for the match, please feel free to post them in our comments section.

We will post the final teamsheet when it becomes available.

  1. I’m going for a 2-2 or 2-1 to us, but will take any sort of win :)

Pity Ranger is injured, wonder what he’s done…

  2. Pardew and Moyes seem deep in conversation ? Maybe talking about their tight arse bosses ?

  3. Tackle like that from behind should have been a bloody red!! If Barton, Nolan or Tiote had made that challenge they’d have been off.

  4. Very poor tracking back from Tiote there.
A hint of complacency there. I hope Pardew gives them a right talking to for that one.

Started well with a Best goal Craig, but then they scored two. The bastads!

Aye 2-1 to them. We’ve been a bit shite at the back Craig.

  9. Thanks a bunch, guys. The spanish one is really smooth.

What’s the formation like now? Any substitutions at HT?

    Enrique off, Ameobi on, hydeous.

“Thanks lads, bummer as we could have made huge inroads to safety today and overtaken sunderland too .”

The man in the mask will save us, Craig!

  13. sunderland holdign arsenal too which is crap !! grr, pls all bottom teams picking up points..villa, stoke fulham west brom all picking up points. bad day at office compounded by results elsewhere.

  14. Ferguson going to come on now? I hope it’s for Lovenpants. I fail to see why he makes the starting 11. Really.

  15. My apologies for the shite match banter today lads. I thought that Hugh was doing it, but I think he forgot. So I ended up doing a quick one in ten minutes and it was late.

“worky.. hugh said he was off to wales early this morning.”

I know Craig, but he said he was gannin’ to tap some words in here before he went. My fault really though. I had to rush out early today and I didn’t check, so it was a bit of a panic in the end!

  17. our home form has been crap all year for season. we could have been safe now if we had even done just a tiny bit better.

    “Frustrating that.
Really though we would play these of the Park.”

Hard to tell with Everton this season, Jason. They’ve been somewhat erratic, like us. As I said in the preview though, Walter Smith was Everton manager last time they beat us at St James’s. Suppose they had to break the duck sometime. :-(

  22. Is that the last home 3pm kick off ? Cos we havent won one since August 2008 apparently :(

Pardwho has to start thinking seriously about changing formations particularly with the lack of quality strikers we have at our disposal. We need to pack the midfield and play Jonas wide right leaving Best or Shirley up front. Fergie did OK today and if Jose isnt completely crocked they can work the left flank between them. Mixing it up and bringing in some creativity is better than the clueless hoofing we adopt when things arent going well.

Far too much of what we did today was predictable and Everton handled it relatively easily.

  23. just looked at the league , who ever has said we are safe from relegation then think again !! i watched the match on sky and the crowd were very quiet in parts of the game ??????

I know its the chicken and egg problem but the players did nothing to get the crowd excited and vocal. The biggest noise was targetted at Webb

  25. Pardew said in his programme notes he is prepared to give the young uns a chance in the run in to the end of the season. Perfect chance today. Ferguson should have started. What about an young un in the middle of the park there was no danger he could have done any worse than Lovenkrands or Simpson who was a square peg in a round hole

Pardew says lots of things though, budalovesa. He might say something else tomorrow.
