Wigan Athletic v Newcastle United match banter!

Welcome to NUFC ‘Blog’s Wigan Athletic v Newcastle United match banter. Apologies in advance if it isn’t up to the usual standards, however I am in the latter stages of a fairly horrible ‘flu. However, for a more in depth preview of the game, please check out Toonsy’s excellent match preview. He will be at the game today, and, hopefully, writing some kind of match report.
The DW. Stadium, previously known as the JJB. Stadium, has traditionally been something of a bogey ground for the Magpies, with Newcastle having lost all four previous league visits to Wigan. Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, will also be seeking to arrest a poor run for the team in general recently, with only one win and two darws in their last eight games.
Very rough team news: I seems that there is a strong chance that Steve Harper will be returning to retake his No.1 position at the back after being out with a failrly lengthy injury picked up against Everton. Striker, Andy Carroll, could be out for up to a month with a thigh muscle strain unfortunately. However one piece of good news is that recently aquired midfielder, Dan Gosling is now available for selection, after having been crocked since his move from Everton.
Significant team news from the other side is that former Newcastle winger, Charles ‘Insomnia’ N’Zogbia will be unable to play due to suspension. Since his move from St James’s Park, Insomnia has given Newcastle defenders some sleepless nights in previous encounters. Anyway, once again, for more in depth team news, please consult Toonsy match preview linked above. I will endeavour to provide the teamsheets below when they come available.
The game will be televised live on Sky Sports 1, with kick-off taking place at 4PM.
Howay the lads!
