Welcome to our regular ‘match banter’ feature for todays early kick-off against Tottenham.
To be honest, I’m running a bit late for this one so I won’t beat about the bush. There isn’t much to say that I haven’t written already in my extensive match preview for this game anyway. You can find all the pre match team news, form guide, interviews with the managers and lots of other stuff there.
Secondly, there are all my usual reminders that I will posting all the team sheets and links to watch the game online any second now, as well as match highlights and a video to watch the whole game when it’s all over for those of you who can’t watch it live so stay tuned. Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our “match banter” feature for this afternoon’s early televised game against Tottenham Hotspur at their place, White Hart Lane.
Of course, Newcastle United should be going into this match with more confidence than they have in quite some time, coming into this game after their first two back to back victories of the season after a pretty horrendous losing streak which saw us sinking as low as 16th in the table. Alas, even the two abovementioned victories, against Aston Villa and Chelsea, has only raised us one place to 15th. However, a third victory could possibly raise us as high as 12th if the three teams above us, Norwich, Fulham and Blunderland, all lose their later games, or 13th if they all draw. Here’s hoping! Good afternoon Geordies (or should that be good evening?) and welcome to our regular “match banter” feature.
Today of course we face Tottenham Hotspur away at White Hart Lane. If you read my match preview you will see from the stats alone that this should be a very tough proposition for the Magpies despite the Tottenham manager’s recent “distractions.” However, Spurs’ drab 0-0 stalemate against Liverpool may give cause for both hope and despair. Whilst they seemed to lack their usual potency upfront, they certainly kept things tight at the back, but we’ll see.
As usual, i will try to post the team sheets for the game below as quickly as I can once they become available.
