Hello, good morning / afternnon and welcome to our ‘match banter’ feature for today’s televised (BT Sport) game against Liverpool.
Firstly, apologies to regular readers for the lack of our usual in depth metch preview this time, it’s just been been one of those weeks! This piece won’t be an epic either, I’ll just get on with updating the teams below when they are up, and let you know that though this game is being broadcast on BT Sport in the UK, I will still be posting some links to watch the game online in the comments section too, as well as posting highlights and a video of the whole game when it’s all over.
Here’s hoping we do a little better than last time we played Liverpool at St James’ Park, which of course was a 0-6 trouncing and a defensive horror show. (more…)

Calm down, calm down....Venue: St James’ Park. Date: Sunday, 1st April, 2012. Kick-Off: 1.30pm (Sky TV). Referee: Martin Atkinson (W.Yorks).
Good afternoon Geordies, and welcome to our match banter post for the Liverpool game at St James’ Park.
For all the in depth stuff in the run up to the game, check out our extensive match preview of the game, with all the team news, stats, what the protagonists have been saying and much more. We will also be posting match highlights, a match report and possibly a video of the whole game for those who missed it.
Here’s hoping this game goes like our last encounter with the red menace at St James’, a convincing 3-1 victory in what was Alan Pardew’s first game in charge of the club, and here’s hoping it doesn’t go like his last one, the one at their place, where the tables were turned exactly, and thay won an equally convincing 3-1 victory against us. Of course, we do have much to be optimistic about after putting some recent erratic form behind us with consecutive victories in our last two games against Norwich and West Bromwich Albion. Here’s hoping it continues until the end of the season, for as football commentor, Brian Moore, once said, “It’s all up for grabs now!” Well, a place in Europe is anyway in our case. (more…)
We ain't seen nothing yet!Venue: St James’ Park. Date: Sunday, 1st April, 2012. Kick-Off: 1.30pm (Sky TV). Referee: Martin Atkinson (W.Yorks).
Well, Newcastle United might well be going into this fixture feeling more confident than they have for quite some time against the reds of Merseyside.
King Kenny’s men have lost their last two Premiership games, and they were against Premiership bottom feeders, Wigan and QPR, to boot. They have lost no less five of their last six Premiership games, though the other one was a 3-0 victory over local rivals, Everton, with a hat-trick from Steven Gerrard. This very poor run, especially by their usual standards, leaves them eight points behind us in the table in seventh, with an ever decreasing amount of games to catch up.
One thing Liverpool do have though that we don’t so far is a guaranteed place in Europe, not to mention a trophy already this season. This is something we haven’t managed for a whole 43 years now, and in that period, the scousers have won no less than eleven League Championships, five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, six FA Cups, eight League Cups and twelve Charity Shields, though one or two of the Charity Shields were shared.
