Full MOTD highlights and interviews from todays match between Newcastle United and Aston Villa at St James’ Park.

A fairly uninspiring first half performance from the Magpies was punished by a goal from Villa’s Ciaran Clark after he breezed past United’s centre backs to connect with a Barry Bannan cross in the 22nd minute. However once Pardew did what he should have done in the first place and switched to a 4-3-3 after the break, once again we were saved by a piece of brilliance from one of the usual suspects, Hatem Ben Arfa, after an hour. His excellent goal was some reminiscent of his first goal for Newcastle United against Everton. (more…)



Cardiff City vs Newcastle United match highlights and Pardew post match interview

Highlights and Alan Pardew’s post match interviews from yesterday’s 4-1 defeat to Cardiff City, which saw the Magpies go 3-0 down within 20 minutes of the kickoff thanks to goals from Cardiff’s Aron Gunnarsson and Joe Ralls. Whilst Newcastle United did strike back with a Shola Ameobi penalty just after the restart, Cardiff completed a comprehensive defeat with a fourth goal in the 76th minute strike from Etien Velikonja.

In his post match interview, Alan Pardew blamed injuries to key players and the attitude of his squad for the rout. You can read more details about the injuries the squad are facing in my previous piece. (more…)


Pardew blames big name injuries for Cardiff capitulation, and Debuchy throws toys again

Cardiff City v Newcastle United match highlights.

Speaking in his post match interview after Newcastle United’s abject 4-1 capitulation to the Bluebirds Red Dragons of Cardiff, Alan Pardew blamed injuries to top players for the defeat.

In a fairly confusing message from the Grey Gaffer, he also blamed the attitude of the squad because they thought they should have brought the big names, (presumably Ba and Cisse who both missed the trip) even though they were carrying knocks. Monkey hanger massacre! Hartlepool v Newcastle United highlights, post-match interview, report

Highlights from yesterday evening’s monkey hanger massacre at Victoria Park. There are also some other highlights here.

Hartlepool United were trounced 5-1 with Shola Ameobi opening the account for Newcastle after only 3 minutes, latching on to an irresistable low cross right across the face of the Hartlepool goal by new lad, Romain Amalfitano. Sadly though, the big lad picked up some kind of knock just before half time and was out of the game for the second half. (more…)
