Southampton v Newcastle United.
Pardew takes on his Southampton successor.
Venue: St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton.
Date: Sunday, 25th November.
Kick off: 3:00pm
Referee: Martin Atkinson.
UK TV: None.

Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our “match banter” feature for this afternoon’s game at St Mary’s Stadium.

Two weeks after West Ham, we see Alan Pardew returning to another one of his former clubs, who he managed in League One, helping them to to win the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy aka the “Paint Pot,” but norrowly missing out on the League One playoff places before he was sacked under mysterious circumstances by the club’s Chairman, Nicola Cortese. Will Pardew have his revenge? We shall see!

One thing’s for sure is that Pardew will be desperate to pull the Magpies out of their recent mini slump, where they have only picked up one Premiership point in their last three games. But for in depth look forward to the game, with all the form guides, team news, tactical speculation, what the managers have been saying and more, you can check out my extensive match preview. Newcastle United vs Maritimo Europa League match banter!

S.C. Maritimo v Newcastle United.
Can we go through this evening?
Venue: St James’ Park, Newcastle.
Date: Thursday, 22nd November.
Kick off: 8:05pm
Referee: Danny Makkelie (Holland).
UK TV: ESPN.

Hello, good evening and welcome to our “match banter” feture for this evening’s Europa League game against the Madeirans of C.S. Maritmo.

With Newcastle United topping Group D with eight points, a win this evening would definitely see us through into the next round, However, if second placed Bordeaux with seven points win too, we would have to take it to the last game to find out who will top the group in the final reckoning, which could affect the strength of opposition we face in the next round.

On the other side, Maritimo, bottom of the group with only two points are just hanging on by the skin of their teeth now, and meed to go all out for two wins in their final two group games to stand any chance, so it would be no surprise if the Portuguese Men-o-War come out on the attack, as merely playing for a draw will get them nowhere now. However, for some in depth background to this evening’s game, may I suggest you check out my extensive match preview, which should tell you everything you need to know about this evening’s oppostion, and if that isn’t enough, you can also find some further background to the game in the previous pieces I wrote for our two legged battle here and here, which should be more than enough for anybody! Newcastle United vs Swansea City match banter!

Newcastle United v Swansea City
A chance to get back to winning ways?
Venue: St James’ Park, Newcastle.
Date: Sunday, 17th November.
Kick off: 3:00pm
Referee: Phil Dowd‎.
UK TV: None.

Good afternoon and welcome to our “match banter” feature for yet another home game, this time against eleventh placed side, Swansea City.

Newcastle United’s Silver Supremo, Alan Partridge Pardew will be looking to “bounce back” after a disappointing home loss against Big Sam’s West Ham last Sunday. Here’s hoping that he does as two home defeats in a row would not be good. Here’s hoping that this game will be more entertaing too, as our last game most certainly wasn’t!

One thing which should give us hope is that Swansea have been a little erratic in the Premiership after their exhilarating start to the season with a 5-0 defeat of Queens Park Rangers, followed by a 3-0 defeat of the abovementioned West Ham. Since then they have won only one one Premiership game, a 2-1 defeat of Wigan, though they have turned in some excellent performances against the likes of Chelsea for a 1-1 draw, as well as turning in another excellent performance to knock holders Liverpool out of the League Cup. But anyway, for all the pre match stuff you may wish to know such as team news, possible tactics and much, much more, may I recommend checking out my extensive match preview. (more…)

Newcastle United vs West Ham match banter!

Newcastle United v West Ham United.
The return of big Sam, big Andy and Kevin Nolan.
Venue: St James’ Park, Newcastle.
Date: Sunday, 11th November.
Kick off: 3:00pm
Referee: Mike Dean (the Wirral)‎.
UK TV: None.

Good afternoon and welcome to our “match banter” feature for this afternoon’s game against West Ham.

Today, around 50,000 Geordies and a few Londoners will gather to watch Big Sam’s long balls and Alan Pardew’s long balls clash. As I mentioned in my previous match preview for the game, Newcastle United and West Ham are two of the biggest “route one” teams in the Premiership, so expect to see quite alot of “mortar fire” into both teams’ penalty areas this afternoon, and possibly a fairly tight contest between the ninth and tenth placed teams in the Premiership, as though Big Sam’s teams may not be they most entertaining to watch, they are usually tough nuts to crack.

Of course, today’s game will see the return of no less than three ex-Magpies, Big Sam, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll, so let’s hope that they all get a real Geordie welcome! (more…)

Club Brugge vs Newcastle United match banter!

Europa League - Club Brugge v Newcastle United.
A win should see us through to the next stage.
Venue: Jan Breydel Stadium, Bruges.
Date: Thursday, 8th November.
Kick off: 6:00pm
Referee: L. Banti‎.
UK TV: ESPN.

Hello and welcome to our “march banter” feature for this evening’s game, the second leg of our Group D contest against Club Brugge.

This evening Newcastle United meet a Club Brugge side who are in turmoil, having sacked the manager who faced us in our previous game two weeks ago after he lost his fifth game on a row, taking the side from top of the Belgian League down to eighth, which is right in the middle of the table as there are only 16 teams.

The Magpies are already looking fairly strong at the top of our table with seven points from our first three games, and a victory this evening should see us through to the next round at least as one of the top two in our group. On the other hand however, Alan Pardew will not have had a chance to see any Club Brugge games under their new caretaker coach, Philippe Clement, as they haven’t played any yet! So, they could be a “surprise package”. However, for a more in depth background to the game this evening, you could always check out my previous match preview which will keep you abreast of all the team news, along with lots of other stuff too.
