  1. Thought we could have won this game comfortably if we had the desire to. Perch was mom by a street mile. good game bring them on at yem heard they aint good travellers

  2. di biaggio, in Anzhi’s case that’s a strange one because they have had to travel to ALL their Europa League games as UEFA won’t let them play in Dagestan as it’s dangerous there. That “home” game for them was over 1000 miles from their real home, and to say they are not well liked in Moscow would be an understatement too for various reasons. It’s like us being forced our home games in the South of France in a city that hates Geordies!

Having written that you do have a point as they do indeed have a much better Europa League record in Moscow than they do at the stadiums of opposing teams.

  3. It’s set up nicely for Thursday night, I reckon.

I definitely take people’s point about away goals (us not having scored one), but I don’t think most managers set much store in a 0-1 away result anyway as it’s easily reversed in the return leg. 0-2 would have been significant, but it was never going to happen so we’ll just have to WIN on Thursday. I hope they’re shovelling the Immodeum and Buscopan down Cisse’s neck :)

According to Radio Times, the toon game could be in the prime slot on ITV 1 (it says Newcastle or Chelsea on the RT website at the moment). It’ll probably wind up being the Chelsea game, but it would be nice if was us, and we put on a swaggering “entertainers” performance.

  4. A little credit due for Pards’ unconventional selection on the back 4.

Perch can be a fantastic centre back as long as he doesn’t come up against a Drogba type, although he had no problems with Traore in the air. I always wondered why Willo wasn’t dropped for Perch when we played against Arsenal or other teams that play mostly on the deck.

Simpson and Haidira are arguably our best defensive Fullbacks. They played excellently all day, with a good amount of help from Marveaux and Obertan (can’t believe I just wrote that). Haidira did play a fantastic ball down the channel Sissoko late on as well.

In all, our back 4 was in control almost throughout. Obviously an away goal would have been ideal, but if we played too open it could have been 3-0 or 3-1 pretty easily.

  5. aye smudge credit where credit is due,i for one am happy with the result and the performance, anji defended very well for the most part and alot of the time (more than us)were putting ten men behind the ball, they looked scared of conceding a goal at “home”.
Anji will probably be more adventurous at our place but that will give us more space and hopefully 50k behind us will send us throughh, but this is still a tough tie if their overpaid stars decide to put a shift in they will give us a good run for our money.HWTL.

  6. well i was glad i went offline after the match especially when i seen the SMB chucks utter bollox..he’s got a neck like a giraffe that bloke.calling most users ov this blog thick, when he really falls into that bracket more than most.saying Benny neglected his defence duties.just coz the commentators said Sissoko was playing as wor main
striker chuck,it was actualy Benny who was wor main striker.so on that note how much defending do you want him to do?try using your own limited knowledge ov the game instead ov taking commentators word as gospel.

  7. also chuck your spelling is by far worse than any other users on this site.dont blame Worky for stirring the pot n also blaming him for users not been able to stand you..you bring it all on yourself with your snide digs at people and your constant bollox that you write.your a clueless idiot who is probaly more detested that Hitler.
so do 99.99% ov users ov this great blog a very, very big favor and just……fk off and go play wiv the traffic you clueless SMB

Now steady on Jack. Saying he’s more detested than Hitler is one thing, but calling him a Mackem is taking things a bit too far!

This whole thing has gone too far now and some awful things have been written on both sides. I take my share of the responsibilty for starting things up again, which I shouldn’t have. I think we should all just calm down a bit now.

  9. I am watching Villa ‘n Reading and following QPR Mackems. I don’t really know why as we should take care of our own business and I shouldn’t care what these other teams do.

On Chuck, I actually think he makes a valuable contribution. Some of the things he says are interesting and he doesn’t repeat himself as much as I make out. He writes in such an antagonistic way that it winds people up (me included sometimes).

He’ll probably get on Toonsy’s blog now. However, there’s a few on there that are pretty nasty so I expect to see him back here when he calms down.

GS, some of the comments Toonsy’s goons left for Chuck on here were awful, they was almost as bad as the stuff they left for me. They make Jack and Darth look like Kofi Annan.

  11. Well, after I said I shouldn’t be bothered about other results things are getting interesting for the Mackems.

Our most important game is probably Wigan next week.

You were getting well stuck in there yourself, Worky.

I wouldn’t have spoken to Ian Porterfield or Dennis Tueart the way you spoke to upchuck :)

I seem to recall that toonsy banned chuck when he was on admin duty here, GS. For pretty much the same things people are complaining about now, I think.

I’m not saying that was right, Or wrong. I may even be mistaken :)

  14. It’s back on for ‘Arry with two wins on the bounce, no longer adrift at the very bottom and a brace of fellow strugglers such as Villa, Wigan and Reading coming up. He might just do it.

I wasn’t as bad you two Darth, I didn’t say he was worse than Hitler and I certainly didn’t drop the “M” bomb like Jack.

I met Ian Porterfield and Dennis Tueart when I was a bairn.

I didn’t call him Hitler or drop the “M” bomb either!

I said what I usually say about the way he usually behaves – and I fully expect my comments to have the usual effect. No doubt, I’ll be told what a ‘jerk’ I am in dues course.

“I met Ian Porterfield and Dennis Tueart when I was a bairn.”

Well, I hope you were young enough to puke on them and get away with it.

  17. It is looking like 3 of the bottom 7. We can do ourselves a big favour with a win tomorrow (he said, stating the bleeding obvious).

Exactly Darth, it’s just pointless and it all goes ’round in a circle. If Chuck comes back on here be nice to him. If Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness can become the Chuckle Brothers then so can you and Chuck. I hope that Chuck does come back on here otherwise GS will cry.

All I am saying is give Chuck a Chance.

  19. Don’t really want to get into the Chuck Versus the World thing. lots of Kudos to Worky for trying to calm things down. Perhaps you should have a bash at trying to sort out Kim Il Jong next Worky. :)

We really need a big win against Stoke today, every crossed for the Lads.

  20. Radio Times now confirms that the CHELSEA game will be on ITV 1 this Thursday (of course).

The toon game isn’t even on ITV 4 – it’s back on ESPN. So, it’s another wobbly feed for me and all the other tightwads that won’t shell out for ESPN.

  21. That disallowed goal in the West Brom Swansea game yesterday was the worst decision I’ve ever seen in football, even worse than that goal where the ball didn’t actually go in the goal. It’s human to miss something, but to have a Premiership game officiated by a linesman and a referee who don’t understand the most basic rules of the game is crazy.

    Aye, happy birthday Grumpy.

  22. Grumpy @21: I know Worky has great powers of persuasion but raising North Korean leaders from the dead is a bit out of his reach I think.
