Romain Amalfitano in hot video action!

As I reported back in March and April, Reims midfielder, Romain Amalfitano, had signed a pre contract agreement to join Newcastle United on a free transfer when his Reims contract expired.
Well, as you may know already, he’s been in Toon in the last couple of days to make things official, wave a shirt around in front of a camera and such. However, he still not quite a Magpie yet, as his Reims contract doesn’t expire until the 30th June, from which point he will become a Newcastle United player. Going on previous information, it seems that the player has signed a three year contract to play with the Toon.
The club’s official Twitta said:
“#nufc have confirmed that French midfielder Romain Amalfitano, 22, will join the club when his Reims contract expires on 30 June”
But anyway, above is a fairly extensive compilation video of Amalfitano playing his brand “Champagne football” so you can get an idea of what we’ll be getting! Whilst it should be remembered that most of these goals are against French Ligue 2 opposition, one of them (from around 1.20 on the video) is a remarkable shot from 30 yards+ that even wor Papiss would have been proud of. I have also (re)posted the video of him from the previous stories below, where he is scoring for Reims in the French cup, as well as a picture of his unveiling at St James’ Park
For a little more background, the player is a 22 year old attacking midfielder who can operate either centrally or on the right, and has been playing at Reims in France’s Ligue 2 for the past two years. In the last season, he made 15 starts and 7 substitute appearences for the Champagne Charlies, scoring 5 goals to help them gain promotion to the highest division for next season.
On coming up to Tyneside to formalise his signing, Amalfitano himself had this to say:
“I am very happy to be a Newcastle player.
“I have seen a bit of the city already and it is a change from France but one I am really looking forward to it.
“When a club like Newcastle wants you to play for them it can only be a good thing. I have taken the opportunity to play in the Premier League and cannot wait to get going.”
Finally, here’s a bit of my conclusion from the last story I wrote on Amaltifano back in April:
“Finally, to sum up, although 22, Amalfitano would certainly not be a “major” signing for the club like, say, Cisse, Ben Arfa or Cabaye, but more of a “one for the future,” and a handy body to have in the squad like Mehdi Abeid.”
He looks like a very decent player. I wonder how he will fit into the NUFC system?
But he looks very very tasty.
