Newcastle United 2 (Demba Ba 48, Shola Ameobi 86).
Tottenham Hotspur 2 (van der Vaart 40 (pen), Defoe 68).
Referee: Lee Probert.
Match highlights. Long highlights of what was probably the match of the season so far, even it is was a draw. A stiff test against strong opposition, with Tottenham striking first with a fair panalty won against Steven Taylor in the 40th minute, which Taylor held his handas up to after the game.
The Magpies struck back in excellent style with yet another good goal from Demba Ba. Then however, miniature hitman, Jermaine Defoe, came up from the bench to put the visitors on top 2-1 with a great strrike in the 68th minute. Newcastle struck back once again though when not so minuture hitman, Shola Ameobi, did exactly the same thing, ie come up from the bench for a wonderstrike, this one scored in the 86th minute to crown of an excellent, nailbiting second half with the hoonours even, and both teams putting in very good performances overall.
On the Newcastlke side, Cheik Tiote’s with his excellent midfield enforcement and Jonas Gutierrez’s seemingly endless running and very respectable end product seemed to be particularly worthhy of mention but most of the team had their moments, Ba’s goal was good of course, but Shola’s wonderstrike made for an excellent cameo appearence and the Fenham Eusebio provided the highlight of the game, from a Newcastle point of view anyway.
Post match interviews
Alan Pardew certainly seemed happy enough with a hard fought draw overall.
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp wasn’t quite happy with some aspects of his team’s performance, but they didn’t seem that bad to me.
Howay the lads!
