Newcastle United v Ipswich Town trophy winning match banter!

Trophy oot for the lads at St James's Park.
Trophy oot for the lads at St James's Park.
A shorter than usual match banter post this time I’m afraid, as I will be busy with other things. Of course though, there’s still Toonsy’s usual, excellent match preview to keep you abreast of all the usual pre match guff.

As pointed out, there will certainly be something of a party atmosphere at St James’s Park, as our two most important targets for the season have been attained with just one more to go, to get over 100 points before the season is out, and generally keep up the momentum as we head for the Premiership.

This match isn’t being covered on TV, but as usual, if you have any good links for audio commentary of the game etc, please feel free to share it on here.

Howay the Lads!

  1. I suppose it is only right that the players that have helped achieve what we have done should all get a go today whether in the 11 or the bench. maybe next week will be the match for surprises.

  2. Disappointing yes, but I agree with Dave. Today should be about the players that have got us this far in the first place.

  3. Team for next week should be somethig like;

    Krul
    R.Taylor One-Size Kadar Enrique

    Routledge Barton Vukic Guti

    Best Ranger

With the bench made up of Shola and the reserves :)

  4. Im just sorry it came to soon for S Taylor as he was a rock at the start of the season, I thought young Kadar might have been on the bench as I cant see us needing Shola and Best but sure, I just hope a few of the younguns get some part to play at QPR and maybe Tayls might even get a cameo role

  5. Everyone also do check out Norwich city game tonight,as they are 1point off in winning their league 1 title.Forster is there.

    ;)

  6. ch is never going to play them! no 1 on the bench they will all leave sorry but cant make excuses for him any more must go. they are not going to play in the prem if they cant even get some time now. the only could thing butt will never play for newcastle again ever thats when we will move forward and what is he doing on the bench for us lot to all applude him when he comes on. he is the 1 why we where relegated.

  7. thats are best team out their! fu.k me thats are bench prem teams are going to laugh at ch if he thinks these jokers can change a game.

  8. asim – Fcuk off and enjoy the day. Leave you moronic babbling for another time and join in the celebration ffs!

  9. Asim not a bit of wonder people used to come on here just to bully you. You never have any thing sensible to say you must be a Mackem Muppet

  10. I see Newcastle fans have learned nothing this season. The loony “please the fans” attitude of the last 15 years brought nothing but massive debt and eventual relegation.

Now we have a manager with balls enough to do what is best for the club and what do we have – fools who can’t spell trying to knock his gigantic success this season.

Nevermind – he is black so I guess the likes of Asim find him a good target. I can’t think what other reason there is for the venom he receives for an almost perfect season.

  11. i will enjoy when that clown gets sacked! we have won the league so what is to enjoy its just an come down nothing more.

  12. As does wickywoowoo, who also makes an excellent point. I’m not sure that Hughton being black has anything to do with Asim’s opinion though.

  13. asim – Your clearly not a real fan. Get behind the team regardless and all that.

Are you bored now your Manchester United game is finised?

  14. and wickywoo I sincerely doubt it’s about his race, asim’s either just a flid with extremely limited football knowledge or a WUM. Probably a bit of both.

  15. did u get behind the team when they put that gutless secound half against villa a guess not.

  16. asim – I have been behind the team for 25 years mate. Was it gutless at Villa? Yes. Did I stop being behind the team? Hell no!

  17. Asim mentions gutless – so when have they been gutless this season? I can’t think of any.

Lacking quality, sure. Lacking a cutting away from home at times, sure. Lacking guts and determination? I think that left the club with Michael Owen.

“I am keeping an eye over Norwich game as well. ^_^”

    Me too ;)

  19. Guys,

Firstly please can we ban asim. He really is a painon here and just causes shit for everyone else.
Second I would take either striker from the 2 relegation scraping teams today, rodellega or cole would fit in nicely…

“Firstly please can we ban asim. He really is a painon here and just causes shit for everyone else.”

Thing is, how can you ban someone for voicing their opinion?

I do have issue with the tone of some of his posts though, and how they cause friction between a lot of people, but then again I am guessing he only does it for a reaction.

  21. AOD – Great dart mate. Thought there was no video today and never seen it mentioned anywhere

    You’re a star!

  22. @toonsy: I work on a mid-sized forum and trolling is a very, very difficult subject for the exact reason you’ve just mentioned, however if somebody is doing it solely to annoy other users then why SHOULDN’T you? asim just admitted to doing it for a reaction so maybe it’s time to pull out your banhammer.

  23. Well played Oba, I must donate ;)

Or at least see if the boss can put a link here for everyone to use?

  24. thump if you dont like what i say then it has got nothing to do with you has it. if i say something i am not having a go at people so if u dont like it dont comment about me being banned.

  25. Oba – I meant like put a link in to go to your site for a stream, like on the right hand side of the page or something or I dunno lol :)

    Short memory…

  27. THIS is why we don’t play kids. If the kids were playing now, they would collapse like they did in the Carling Cup.

When the home record is secure, then we can go out and lose all our remaining games for all it matters, the important things are done now.

Those games are for the youngsters – not the game where the team who won promotion play at home and get the trophy against Roy Keane, of all people.

  28. I think we might see Nolan getting a rest as he hasn’t been having the best of games today, i’d bring Smith on but we might see Butt instead

Use the ‘Contact’ button at the top mate :)

  30. yes u are right! the home record is very important but i hope they dont run out of steam in the secound half for being on the piss monday night.

  31. Just a random thought came flashing through my mind.

I wonder if we got zidane that time, and he partner with alan shearer.OMG.

  32. asim – Thats better ;)

And I hear Nolan and Harper were absolutely mortal at the Whitney Houston gig at Metro arena on Thursday ;)

  33. AOD – Aye, could have had Zidane but got Silvio Maric instead.

Just about sums up Newcastle :)

  34. Does the above video link only work in the UK? Anyone tell me how to get it to work?

  35. we have had great players at newcastle they have all been hit with the jinx that is newcastle.either injured or cant hack it at the toon. tino ginola and albert were the best of the bunch.

  36. Toonsy, yes, but I get some message about na invalid embeded code or something…CH 3 gives me audio.

“we have had great players at newcastle they have all been hit with the jinx that is newcastle.either injured or cant hack it at the toon. tino ginola and albert were the best of the bunch.”

Aye, there were also players before 1995 aswell to be fair.

  38. We’re having some problem with the video at the moment. As you all know, it is not televised, and is not supposed to be shown, but we got our ways..

But Ch 3 has radio, as always,, while you’re waiting on Ch 1 and videostream..

    Obaerlis

  39. norcal – i’m getting the same imbed error code. got a radio feed up so its alright.

still pissed they didn’t pick up this match for TV. would love to see the celebrations post-match.

  40. Bummer….i am sitting her waiting, but the screen where the video would be has this message:
Ivalid embed code (error 1337): Please use the embed code exactly as it appears below, or visit http://www.justin.tv to watch this stream.

Not sure where the embed code would go and justin.tv doesn’t have the channel showing the game…

I guess it’ll have to radio

  41. what’s with the finishing today? few times now it sounds like they’re trying to be cute with the ball in the box. blast it home, come on.

  42. I am surprised they didn’t put this on the TV as their will be a trophy presented at the end regardless of the outcome. Oh well. Radio announcers are rather entertaining and spirited though.

  43. How r we playing|? R we dominating or just sitting back settling for a point proctecting our unbeaten home record

“Come on lads i keep getting an error on CH1 …help…pls…anybody ?”

Have you tried channel 3, ToonKing?

  45. SO which of you is going to post the trophy presentation on YouTube? It’s the only way I’ll see it.

  46. Sholaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :)

Lawn Chair’s not very mobile, but he’s good on the ground. Good strong legs. Solid as a rock.
    ———————————–
    Quicker than Nicky Butt :)

  48. Come on, get Lawn Chair on. He’s been great this season.

Hey, there’s headphones guy again. Hasn’t even broken a sweat. How can he expect to come on if he’s not properly warmed up?

  49. Disapointing but still nice to keep the record , be intresting to see how long we can keep it going next season

  50. Shoot…just missed out on a new wins-in-a-row record…ah well…still get a trophy.

  51. Hull relegated…couldn’t have happened to a better team.

Still, I say grap Jozy Altidore if at all possible…I know the loan is through Valencia or some team in Spain…but get him. I think a season long loan would be a good move. We’ll have better midfield service than Hull did.

  52. Jozy belongs to Villareal, I think. I don’t know what he would bring to the team, really. Seems to be a good hold up player, but has not scored goals. Still very young though. Hard to tell what kind of potential he has in a big league and with better service & style.

  53. Dave, just trying to find a pic for a match reprt and though it would be nice to get one of the trophy being lifted.

Figured I may have to pay for it but I wouldn’t mind for a one off. Not for 47 friggin quid it aint :(

  54. Just finished work :( gutted about the late equaliser but unbeaten at home for a season is some record. Great to hear about Taylor and Carroll celebrating together.

  55. I really think Carroll has grew this season and think he can do the job in the prem. I was glad to see S Taylor with a big smile on his face and looking like he IS one of the Lads

  56. Dave – I’ve found a pic that shows Carroll and Taylor with arms around each other aswell.

  57. Dave – Yeah, I can get one on here straight away but they have a watermark smack through the middle which them look shite and me this place look skanky :(

  58. OK ! OK !
Dont want to rain on anyone`s parade but lets not get carried away here.
We did what was expected by most, only in a spectacular manner and are back to the league we should have never been relegated from.
Question is, will the team that was too good for the second tier be good enough to survive the PL.
With the present squad, doubt it, as this side will struggle if not reinforced and i dont mean by the unknowns we have recently been linked too.
Forget about the Scandinavians and the no name second tier cheapo`s lets sign a two or three class players.
Hey we are the 20th. richest team in the world, it`s about time we acted like it , instead of everyone worrying about Ashley`s billions.
Seems the propaganda machine has converted all the fans into conservative bean counters worrying about overspending and wage levels.
Look our revenue for this coming season should top one hundred million, with more than 50% comming from tv.
Is it too much to ask for a few million of that to strengthen the side, that`s the same side who will decide if we survive and generate a similar income in the years to follow.
Plus we want to be entertained, No!

  59. Chuck,
    haddaway man,
What was ‘expected’ by ‘most’ was that we wouldn’t walk this league.
Soz man, but don’t let’s skew what was or wasn’t ‘expected’, please.
‘pundits’, fans, ex-players, the lot ‘expected’ the converse of what has happened.
    Howay!

  60. “Seems the propaganda machine has converted all the fans into conservative bean counters worrying about overspending and wage levels” too true

well done to the lads…they have now made up for last seasons horror show…little more in my mind. it is only now that they can show there true quality and passion for the club

  61. CLiNT – Your right. All people have to do is look back at any pre season review in any paper and they all had us down to struggle.

  62. Aye toonsy,
isn’t it weird how quickly we forget & start stating the actual opposite of what happened.
Don’t tell me, the tories were lovely under thatch & hitler was nice & manu fans aren’t glory hunters. :)
They had us down as low as 20th or even further relegation. Even Shearer had us down to struggle-FACT.
    batty,
you’re cock on mate, parity has been restored.
    Square one!
    ;)

  63. That`s a lotta bullshit you know each and every one of you expected promotion, certainly with the talent on this side.
What was a surprise was that Ash kept so many.
Which by the way was a fluke, the prior ownership plus the present had obviously never contemplated relegation, therefore had`nt contracts in place that would result in reduced wages if in fact it accured.
That was the main reason for the retention of the quality players.
They and the badge kissers were happy enough with the retention of those big salaries and would probably play in outer slobovia for that kind of dosh.

    Clint and Igor,
Guess you were the only two who believed what the tabloid press was saying then, eh ?

  65. Actually chuck,
you’re right about me believing we’d be sweet.
Just not ALL the press, pundits etc.
I also knew MA wouldn’t flog everyone, cos he wasn’t selling(the club) &
    wanted to get back up.
    ;)

  66. S`right Clint, just made the jist of my argument in two sentences.
I tend to be more long-winded.

  67. yay we won the trophy and are back to the epl!!!!!!!!!!!! but im pissed that not one channel could be fuc.ken bothered to show it. i mean sky news is just all bout the dam elections and footy league show showed wot 2 mins of action????????? WT.F!!
