Loftus Road beckonsVenue: Loftus Road, London. Date: Sun 12th May, 2013. Kick off: 3.00pm. Referee: Lee Probert (Wilts). UK TV: None.
Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our penultimate “match banter” for the season.
This time of course, the Magpies face Queens Park Rangers and with Alan Pardew once again seemingly unable to find a win for love or money, each game becomes ever more crucial in the Toon’s bid to stave off yet another relegation. With our next opponents being Champions League chasing Arsenal, this clash with one of the three teams who have actually managed to be worse than us so far this season has assumed even more importance. Loftus Road beckonsVenue: Loftus Road, London Date: Monday, Sept 12th, 2011 Kick-off: 8:00pm Referee: Phil Dowd
After the annoying international break, Newcastle United return to Premier League action with a visit to the capital to take on Neil Warnock’s Queens Park Rangers.
The match is scheduled for live broadcasting via Sky Sports 1. Phil Dowd is the man in the middle, which could possibly be a good thing if you take into account it was he who was referee in our 4-4 draw against Arsenal, our 5-1 hammering of the Tramps and a memorable 4-3 victory at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea last season. Perhaps Dowd is now a good omen for the Magpies…
Much has been said about Joey Barton’s debut on Monday for Rangers, so I’m not going to go into detail about it because it’s boring and I don’t care. (more…)
QPR's celebratory centenary crest. And now, the end is here, and so I face, the final curtain. Poignant opening words from a very famous song that has a lot of parrallels with the last year or so in the life of a Newcastle fan. And perhaps more appropriately we face our very own final curtain in London tomorrow as we take on QPR at Loftus Road in a 1pm kick-off.
Like old Frank Sinatra, Newcastle will be looking to ooze style and win the game whilst having their sights firmly set on a target of a 100 point haul for the season, and if they can achieve it they will become only the fourth side to do so in Championship history. Thousands of fans are expected to flock to Loftus Road to partake of what is surely going to be a party atmosphere. Many have tickets, some will have a ticket in the home end whilst others won’t have a ticket at all and will just want to be there to take in what should be a carnival atmosphere. One would hope that the players can add fuel to the party fire with a win, and goals will surely be in the offing as QPR have a remarkable record of not being involved in a 0-0 scoreline all season – I hope I haven’t just jinxed things there!
