Newcastle United v Arsenal match preview.
Another tough start to the season.
Newcastle United welcome Arsenal to St James’ Park on Sunday aiming to kick-off their Premier League season with a victory.

It has been another difficult summer for the Magpies, with off-field shenanigans once again dominating the news agenda.

Rafa Benitez’s departure as manager was inevitable, leaving fans up in arms about Mike Ashley’s continued ownership of the club.

Steve Bruce has been brought in to replace the Spaniard and it’s fair to say that the decision went down like a lead balloon with much of the fanbase. (more…)

Newcastle United v Arsenal match preview.
A tough climax to a tough season.
Venue: St James’ Park, Newcastle.
Date: Sun 19th May, 2013.
Kick off: 4.00pm.
Referee: Howard Webb (Sheffield).
UK TV: Sky Sports 1.

Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our final match banter of the season!

Of course, this game sees us facing Arsenal at St James’ Park. Thankfully, it will not be a do or die game for Premier League survival against very stiff opposition thanks to our previous 1-2 victory against the not quite so stiff Queens Park Rangers – That would have been just too much to bear. Even so, the fact that we have been teetering on the abyss so close to the end of the season is indicative of what a disappointing season we’ve had.

Before I carry on though, just a quick note to let you know that I will actually be at the game this time. Hence, I might not be posting the team sheets, links to watch the game online etc as I usually do. I will try, though if some of you regulars could help out by posting the teams, that would be most appreciated! Alternatively, they can be found on the club’s official website

Newcastle United v Arsenal match preview.
Gunners are our visitors on Saturday.
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the 2011/2012 Barclays Premier League season to begin. First up for the Magpie’s is the visit to St James’ Park of Arsène Wenger’s Arsenal. This game of course was the same fixture last season which has gone down in Premier League history after the two sides ended up sharing a 4-4 draw. Can we expect the same drama come Saturday afternoon this time?

If you’re not heading to St James’ Park for the game, you’ll be able to find it via ESPN, kick-off time is at 5.30pm (BST). Undoubtedly ‘Mr. Happy’ Craig Burley will probably be co-commentating this fixture, so you may want to mute your television sets, or you could tune in to radio Newcastle while watching the action unfold. I’m also sure Robbie Savage is now a ‘pundit’ for ESPN, so you might want to tune in 5 minutes or so before kick-off. (more…)
