Jason Prior: Toon's next number 9?
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew annonunced recently that he has abandoned plans to sign a new number 9 in the Janauary transfer window since the deal for Sochaux’s Modibo Maiga fell through at the medical stage.

However, this may be just a cunning stunt by the Silver Supremo as it has been revealed that the club are currently planning a daring swoop for Bognor Regis’ number 9 goal machine, Jason Prior.

The 23 year old Isthmian League Division One (South) hitman has been given an “invitation to train” with Newcastle United, and has revealed on his own Twitta page that he will be having a trial for the Magpies, saying.

“Sorting everything out tomorrow. Will let you know when I do.”

However, as is the norm for Newcastle United, there is a hint of controversy in the air. An insider from Blue Square South giants, Eastleigh FC, claims the club had what was considered to be a “binding agreement” for the highly rated hotshot to join Eastleigh in a massive, record busting £12,000 deal in the new year. The same insider also claimed that the club may have a very good case for compensation from Bognor should the player end up on Tyneside.

A Facebook page for “Jason Prior, Bognor’s number 9” is here. I hope it’s written by an enthusiastic Bognor fan, because if it’s written by the hitman himself, he sounds like a bit of a big’ed! (only joking if you’re reading this Jason). ;-)

Anyway, below are some clips of the Bognor Pele in action. Will he be the next Andy Carroll? (more…)
