Enrique: Situation still as clear as mud!Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew has come out and denied any knowledge of a “done deal” that would make left back, Jose Enrique follow in the footsteps of Andy Carroll in a move to Liverpool FC.
Pardew told Tyneside newspaper, The Chronicle:
“There’s definitely no deal between the clubs – 100 per cent.
“He’s under contract here until next summer. And we hope to open talks on a new deal as soon as possible.
“That’s where we are.”
Pardew than concluded by saying:
“We want to keep our best players, and Jose’s one of them.
“As far as anything being a done deal, that’s not true. We want Jose to stay. Nothing’s changed.”
Though of course, he also said about Andy Carroll before his £35 million move to Liverpool in January:(more…)
Enrique to Liverpool "Done deal" says Phil Thompson.Former Liverpool defender and assistant manager, Phil Thompson is claiming that Newcastle United left back, Jose Enrique, will become a Liverpool player at the end of the season.
Speaking to Norwegian TV channel, TV2, Thompson reported that a deal for the 25 year old is “a done deal”, saying:
“From what I’ve heard, yes the deal has been done and he will come to Liverpool.”
The nasally well endowed pundit and Liverpool insider continued:
“It’ll be interesting because he’s done very well. He had a difficult first season coming into the Premiership a couple of years ago but he really understands the game now.
“He’s one of those full backs who is good going forward but he’s also a good defender and I think that is the main thing.”(more…)
