Demba Ba: Running away from Toon?
Demba Ba: Running away from Toon? Not yet says Philippe Auclair.
In an interview with “Talk Sport” radio, their French correspondent, Philippe Auclaair, who claims to know Demba Ba and his entourage well, tried to clarify comments made by Newcastle United hitman Demba Ba in a recent interview with French sports radio RNC.

In the interview he said he thought that the player would stay at Newcastle until the end of the season, but also expressed doubts that he would be a Newcastle United player beyind the New Year if his current form continued and his knee held out.

When asked about the player’s commnents, which you can see in full by following the link above if you don’t know them already, Auclair responded:

“Well I know exactly how it happened.

“He was taking part in a friendly charity tournament north of Paris and he was asked the question by a collegue of mine, and really the question was ‘if Paris came to you what would you say?’ Now what is a player going to answer to that?

“He said ‘I would think about it’, and he also said, ‘Anyway, talking about a tramsfer is absurd because I am at the African Nations Cup so therefore my priority is Senegal. I’m doing very well at Newcastle, I’m very happy there, I finish the season with Newcastle and after that we’ll see.”

But, and it was a fairly big but, Auclair then added:

“I DON’T think that Ba-Ba is going to stay at Newcastle beyond the New Year if his form carries on like that and if his body holds. I can’t see that.

“But I do know the player well, I do know his entourage well and thay have got a very precise plan and the plan is to stay for the time being.

Auclair then concluded on Ba by casting doubt on Totteham manager Herry “Floppy Chops” Redknapp’s claims of a release clause on the player’s contract saying that:

“He would also cost an absolute fortune at the moment.

“I know that people are talking about the escape clause, but there may be a little less foundation to that than people say.”

That term “He would also cost an absolute fortune at the moment” will, no doubt, be music to the ears of our current and much beloved owner, Mike Ashley.

  1. Think it’s pretty fair to say he wont be here for as long as we’d like. Just squeeze what we can out of him and hopefully have a spot in europe! Hope we make alot of profit on him with a new contract and buy in new french quality like cabaye.

Should be a bit easier to lure people here with european football.

  2. Aye. Only time will tell. Agree that if he does go, we need to get top dollar for him and hopefully he’ll be buggering off to some continental outfit. Don’t want to face him in the league, esp if he’s getting good service.

  3. very precise plan!!!!!!!!!!
is that to also engineer a move when he is away in the ACN to make sure there is no backlash when he is present?

  4. The Times confirmed today that Liverpool offered Carroll back to us for £20m but the club declined cos he was over-valued!

  5. Supermac

I guess our (and Liverpool’s) rejection of Carroll must have knocked out whatever confidence he had left.

Only goes to show that the grass is not always greener… Please take note Demba!
